Churchills Fish & Chips

Price is absolutely incredible for 4 halibut and chips which feeds the whole family. Big pieces and tastes great. Note that they take cash only. The store itself needs a major facelift but who cares if the food is good, clean environment and we're eating it at home anyway. I love supporting family run businesses who truly have tasty food and prices.

OMG.we ordered fish and chips for takeout tonight from here and I am INCREDIBLY happy with our order. Not only was the staff so friendly but everything was amazing. From the fish, the chips and even the gravy. Usually we aren't very satisfied with how greasy the fish is, how bad the fries are or how salty the gravy is but at this place. THEY HAVE IT ALL! I would highly recommend this place for your fish and chip cravings. And don't forget the gravy. Wow!

Always good fish and chips! Well, I have chicken fingers but the family loves the fish. And those chips are gooood!

$5.99 for popcorn fish and chips was an amazing deal! I didn’t have the time to sit and dine in, but I hope to in the future. The two ladies (one took the order and the other was cooking) were incredibly kind and friendly. I just moved to Oshawa and am really impressed by people’s kindness here.

In terms of the food, the portion and temperature were great. The taste was amazing. I loved how crispy the fish and chips were. I am looking forward to coming back and trying their other menu items:)

PS, cash only. They have an ATM inside if needed.

Was there yesterday it's very good.
Had too split a fish and chip diner with my daughter because the portion is huge.

Cash only and their poutine uses shredded cheese, not curds. Was super disappointed. Over priced for what you get as well. Fries also tasted undercooked.

They only accept cash.

We called today after seeing this post ordered a large poutine. My brother goes in to pay, unfortunately we didn’t have cash on us, the atm was down ; we went to use the atm at giant tiger and it wasn’t dispensing cash either.
I called and let the guy know and he got very rude over the phone and started raising his voice and talking over me. I apologized and suggested that he let customers know that they only accept cash. He repeatedly told me not to ever call them again for food.

I’m sure the poutine is great however, with his poor customer service skills, rude mouth etc I def won’t be attempting to try them again.

Lovely staff. Lovely cozy old fashioned place.i want in lady night with $25 as they only take cash and wanted the coleslaw which is out of this world, so is the fish. Ant the fries are nothing like any other fish and chips places
Anyways I was short. 88 cents and still gave it to me!

Large halibut portions, good price, friendly staff. This would be my go to dish and chips place if I was local, but honestly it's worth the drive if you're not too far outside oshawa

I think I may have found my go to English style fish and chips store in Durham region. Great fresh fish, lightly battered halibut fish and fresh cut fries and an amazing coleslaw, I am coming back here, Wonderful friendly and caring service, no wonder the reviews are all good.

I LOVE it here. The very best halibut fish I have ever had. The staff & service is beyond exceptional. My husband is allergic to all sea food, when we or he is driving by, which is often, he will stop in for take out of fish & chips for me. They go beyond caring, & wrap it in a plastic bag for him to drive home to me in Peterborough. I wish there were a franchise in Peterborough! Yes, I did mention that to them.

I picked up a family pack for my family and I can’t say enough how delicious and fresh it was. Love this place and it’s people working in it. Super friendly. Best Fish & Chips in Durham Region.

We visited Churchills again and I have to say the service was excellent as usual. We didn't have to wait long at all for the food and the servings were much more than we expected. We will definitely come back again. The restaurant was very clean and the ataff were so warm and welcoming. Honestly. I love fish and chips and so if you do too I highly recommend this place. You can see in my photo that the portions are AMAZING. Thank you!

We both had two pieces of fish and a truck load of fries. You'll be full when you leave and I'm a big guy.

I've read all the great reviews here and thought I'd try. Got the 2 halibut and chips, cost was almost $25. But that is normal these days. Place was empty at 5pm on a Tuesday. Well it was the worse I've ever had, 1 fish was raw, unbelievable. And half of the first was raw. It's not like they were extremely busy or anything, like I said place was empty. People where very nice, but like I said, the worse halibut I've ever had. Threw it out. Never again, I DO NOT recommend this place. Best is still Captain George in Bowmanville.

16 bucks was alot to spend on a plate of mealy chips, a tiny piece of overcooked halibut and coleslaw which contained an unexpected ingredient I can't eat. Won't return.
