The selection is pretty good for a smaller store, and it's a great location near high park.

I've mostly found the staff to be helpful and friendly.

The store has pretty narrow aisles, so it feels a bit claustrophobic. This space might be challenging to navigate if you have a dog that doesn't like strangers/ other dogs in their personal space.

It would be nice if the un-packaged treats were not at dog mouth-level.

I don't think the pictures of shoplifters pasted on the door is a good move. It just feels uncomfortable and tacky and some people in the photos are clearly not doing well mentally/ physically. I feel like there are better ways to prevent theft.

Great place, I get rabbit feet, herring and chicken legs for my dog here! Three of his favorites!

Would really like to connect with the owner. An interaction with an employee today was so surprising, I need to understand why I was sent a rude and caustic email and why a suggestion I made was met with such a dismissive attitude. I buy $100 worth of dog food here every 2 weeks, and if I do not hear back from the owner, that is about to stop.

My favorite "boutique style" pet food store. They carry all the high end quality foods that I am interested in. The staff is also super nice and helpful!

Outstanding customer service. Nick truly went above and beyond! My cat fell ill and required an inflatable cat collar. I couldn't go into the store to buy it because I was solo with my son who's under the age of 2 and cannot wear a mask. Nick walked me through the options on the phone, set the item aside, organized physically distanced payment option (payment terminal strapped to a hockey stick, lol! Doesn't get anymore Canadian than that) and returned with the collar right to my car so I could sit there safely with my son. He even threw in some free cat treats. I was so touched. He can't possibly know how much that simple act of kindness meant to me during a very stressful day. Thank you so much, Nick!

Love this place for all my pet needs, recently switched to a raw food diet for my dog and they always have it in stock. Very handy location right across from High Park

Another reason to support local independent pet shops. Today I decided to take my Havanese to High Park for a walk in the shade amongst all the beautiful trees. On our way back home I thought we could stop by for some treats and some water for him. As we parked in front of Sleep Country and started to walk towards Global Pets we noticed a bowl of water outside the dental clinic and hoped our little guy would too. Since it was warm (29 degrees) he sniffed and we just went towards Global. I noticed the sign to use hand sanitizer on my way in.
As soon as I entered I heard a woman call out to tell me to use the hand sanitizer which was fine as I saw it upon entering. I proceeded to ask if they have any water for my dog. The staff replied "there's one just outside the dentist clinic". I told her that we did see that but the dog passed by as it was probably too warm. I continued to look for some special treats and hoped for some assistance as there were two staff who also continued to chat amongst themselves. Since it was clear nobody was going to help I just grabbed whatever treat that I thought would be good and then left the store with a very bitter experience. On days like today you'd think the pet shop would have a bowl of water and matter of fact I would've purchased one for him to drink water or at least could have had some assistance. Or even offer any kind of assistance. Anyway just one customer lost so no big deal I'm sure. Another reason why we should support local independent pet shops.

Attention local small businesses in Bloor West High Park Village!
Theft at local store. Active arrest and file on man and woman. Call 11 Division if you know these people.
Quote feb 19th theft. If you sold a puppy/ dog to them, they are stealing to feed. The dog is at risk and will be re-homed. If you know these people or work with them, know they are thieves. To the woman.get help and turn him in.

I wish I could give this place zero stars.
**Long story, but please read it. **
We moved to the high park area 3 years ago with out 3 pets and always into this Global Pet Foods for all our needs since it was so close to our home. As you can imagine, with 3 pets, the money we spend on them adds up when shopping for food, treats, clothes, accessories, baths and all other needs. Even though this location sold all the things we needed, it was always uncomfortable shopping there. I don't know if its part of their training, of if the staff just didn't like us, but EVERYTIME we went there, we were followed like we were stealing. Regardless of how we dressed, if we had the pets with us, or if we were alone or together. We were always followed by the staff.
Recently, we added one more dog to our family, Logan. He is a big greyhoud-labrador mix adopted from Mexico where he was a street dog. He doesn't feel safe leashed and sometimes barks when people are too close.
He is a big boy with an intimidating bark, but he would NEVER hurt anyone. He is always running free at dog parks, dog friendly beaches and off-leash trails and never had any issues with barking or aggression. He rides the TTC with us all the time and is a perfect gentleman.
Because this location has people following us closely, he constantly feels threatened, like they will hurt him, so he barks and hides behind us.
Last time I went into the store with my dog Logan, they were crowding us again and Logan got scared and barked at them, simply asking for space. I got what I needed and tried to get out as soon as possible. When a male costumer approached me and asked if he could pet Logan, I said "please don't pet him. He doesn't usually like men and he will bark at you". The consumer ignored my request and proceeded to approach Logan with his hands down to get him. Guess what? Logan barked at the guy, but in no moment, showed teeth or any other sign of aggression. He just needed space and he just simply doesn't like men. The store manager LISA made a whole scene in front of other costumers saying that my dog was aggressive and I was "putting everyone there in danger", meanwhile, Logan was hidding between my legs, scared and confused.
Other costumers where saying it was fine, afterall, dogs bark. It's normal. But she kept making a scene, telling people to hide behind the isles and be careful with Logan and screaming "you need to muzzle this dog! You need to muzzle this dog! " I was so embarrassed, even considered leaving everything behind and just going home. I left the store in tears. I could not believe what had just happened.
Today, the manager LISA blocked us from entering the store with our dogs because Logan barked. He wouldn't have barked if she wasn't so close to us. He was fine when we walked in, only barked because of her. She said we could only bring him of he was muzzled. Doesn't she understand that some dogs bark when they are nervous? She works at a pet store, I'm sure they see anxious dogs all the time. Is this how she treats everyone?
I told her that we would be bringing our business to petvalu, (who treats us amazingly and we never had ANY issues with our dogs barking there. They get treats and belly rubs every single time) and she gave us a smirk and said "that's fine".
It's a shame that no other pet food chain carries the dog food we feed to our boys (North Paw), but I much rather travel an hour by TTC to another location than to ever going back to this store.
Unfortunately their head office is already closed, but I do intend on talking to them about this behaviour.

Please avoid this place. Specially if you have big and/or anxious dogs.

Not the closest pet store to my place, but I always end up here. Great selection, can get Air Miles for my purchases, and fresh cat grass.

The staff here were really kind and friendly. Our dog got sprayed by a skunk and we couldn't seem to get all of the smell out. When we went in tonight they helped us find the right shampoo and use the bath. Even though we came just before the baths closed they did not try and rush us. Thanks for all your help

When I got a new pup, this store was my first choice. Staff is helpful and the food selection is as good as it gets.

Best place for pet food. Awesome selection of every type of dog food I could ask for. I searched petsmart and walmart for biologically appropriate dog food and all they had was trash tier foods that I wouldn't feed a stray dog. I buy Acana large breed puppy food at Global Pet Foods. They also have a nice buy 12 and get 1 free deal. This is great because quality dog food is expensive and if they want my business this is a great way to make sure I always come. The buy 12 deal also tracks you via phone number no matter which location you buy from.

I love Global Pet Foods! If you are looking for friendly personal service this is the best place to be. If you are educated about your pet and you'd like to provide a healthy lifestyle and diet like myself, this is the store to be in. One of my two cats (orange tabby) does not tolerate the common pet food brands very well. He is also very, very, very picky and would not eat some of the soft foods I bought from other pet stores. He always had soft to watery poop and he was smearing it everywhere including my bed The vet said he would need flushing an x-ray and special food costing about $400. I don't trust the vet because they try to milk you and buy the brands they sell in store. A small to medium bag of dry food was $55 alone.

I spend almost $150 a month on my boys now which includes ear cleaner, nail clippers, nail files, de-shedder (comb), soft brush, cat toothpaste, beds, scratching posts, mats to catch litter, millions of toys and food that is grain free, with REAL meat, brown rice, carrots, green peas etc. When I asked if there was Not only is Global Pet Foods friendly they actually are educated about their products and helped me choose the right brands of dry food and wet food. I always buy a 10lb to 15lbs (or somewhere in-between) which lasts me from 1-2months. They also have a rewards program where if you buy 10 bags of dry food you get the 10th or 11th free they always have daily promotions as well.

Lastly, as much as they are the number 1 pet store, I found that cheap products you can find in Dollarama or grocery stores they flipping sell it for double the price. So be informed! If you also like to buy in bulk for kitty litter they also have 10-15lbs bags which for me costs me 50-100$ a month. I spoil my babies and had them since they were babies. Rascal my Russian Blue mix is 2.5years old now and my Orange Tabby is 3 now. I know people spend only $30 a month but I'm sorry I want my cats to live a long and healthy life. Global is my boys favorite store and I am a customer for life because of them.
