Delicious fish at a good price! Fresh cut fries were excellent and the service friendly and prompt. Great coleslaw!

I had been here previously and the food was decent. Our latest order was terrible. The fish was mushy (maybe quickly de-thawed?) and was dripping with oil. Won't be going back.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The haddock was the perfect combination of crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The waiter was nice. Only complaint is that it’s a little warm in there.

I Been going for many years and I want to give this place a 10 star as they are and Mom and Papa Restaurant and you can eat in I high recommend this place if your in Cambridge and I Go here every Good Friday I tried other places in Cambridge Ontario and this place beats them all and my wife never ate fish before until she tried this Place Sooooooo Good And Yummy

Ordered 4 haddock fish & chips meals to go. The fish was decent. 1 star for the decent fish and 1 star for the server who was friendly. I swear the fries were cooked in gutter oil (if anyone is wondering what gutter oil is, look it up on youtube). They were tasteless, saltless, burnt and dry. They didn’t include any tartar sauce, no ketchup or lemon. They could have at least mentioned that they don’t include them, that way I could ask for some. What a terrible experience for $70.

Fries were tasteless cold was told order would be 10 min took 30. For 2 pieces of fish and 1 order of fries $52 is a bit much to charge. 3 stars because the fish was good

Change your oil! Wow, what a greasy mess we had today, gave 3 stars because previous times the fish and chips were not too bad, but today (October 14,2021) was just some of the worst, most went in the garbage.

Too expensive for what it is, small pieces of chicken, with what tasted as old fries, on a cheap cardboard take out box. For always $27. Not worth it, better go to a Crabby Joes, and you get big pieces for same price.

Ordered this through Uber & so disappointed! Its a fish & chip place but their tartar sauce came in a no-name packet. No home made tartar sauce!? The fish was ok, the fries were completely soft & soggy and saltless. Wouldn't eat here again

For some background. I never liked fish in my entire life, I would gag at the idea of it and never ever wanted to eat it. I finally allowed my fiancee to introduce me to it slowly and we picked this place. Honestly the fish was delicious, not greezy, amazing portion and smart server. A little pricey but hey, great fish isn't cheap! Thanks for amazing first fishy experience!

I ordered a Haddock, shrimp and chips. Fish was good and felt fresh, chips seemed freshly cut but were not seasoned at all. No homemade tartar sauce, no coleslaw though.
If you want to eat fish and chips, I would recommend this place but you got to come and eat or do take out yourself. Online deliveries will always mess up the food.

The fries taste and smell like they were cooked in extremely old oil, the batter on the fish was not very crisp literally fell off the fish, the fish itself had 0 flavor didn't taste not even lightly salted. It wasn't awful but I wouldn't eat there again. When I think of fish and chips this place wouldn't come to mind im sure.

First time at this location and I was happy with the food, fresh, good customer service, I will return.

Best fish and chips I've had in over a decade. Not cheap but worth it. Fish fillet was thick and cooked properly. The batter was light and flavorful. Chips tasted like potato, fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Very impressed

Terrible. GF and I ordered some cod Fish and chips and they were awful.
Fish tasted frozen, batter was soggy, fries (forget about them), never again.

At the first moment you arrive in that place the stuff gives you a comfortable feeling. Very comfortable stuff, it is a good restaurant to hang out with your friends or with your date.heavenly cooking, skillful chef de cuisine, reasonable cost and courteous service. Warmly recommended.

Customer service was very good and polite. Loved the cod and Pollock fish. They tasted so fresh and portions are great! The coleslaw is very fresh too. Definitely would recommend anyone to this place

Honestly was so good. Fries were THICK and fish batter was delicious and crispy. Worth every penny. Employee helping me was super nice. Awesome experience. Got take out and it was ready in 5 minutes. Piping hot

What can I say? Worst fish I have ever eaten. Had to take a paper towel to the fish to soak up all the grease. Inside of the box was drenched in grease. It took 2 paper towels to at least get rid of some of the grease. Very disappointed. Wont be re-ordering from here ever again.

The fish was really good. Nice and light, not too greasy and big portions. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was a bit lacking but only one waiter for whole place. Would go back again

This has become one of my go-to spots in Waterloo. After trying a few other places nearby, I would say this is the highest quality fish and chips among them. Such a simple and perfect product, truly.

The fish taste fresh and the breading is light and as the name suggests, perfectly golden. The fries taste fresh cut and are absolutely beautiful- not too oily either, a sign of being shaken well and not rushed. The coleslaw is fresh and not overly dressed. I get the large haddock meal.

I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone. This is a great and underrrated spot in Waterloo!

Food was great. A little pricier than expected but good quality. Fish, chicken strips, mozza sticks, fries, and deep fried mushrooms are all good choices. Has a bit of a diner feel. Very friendly service.

Disappointed in my first experience. Waiter tried to rush us to order as soon as we received our menus. Food was good (ordered calamari rings, the salmon, and tiger shrimp), but there was a hair in my shrimp dip. The waiter took the one piece of shrimp to the back, without any other word of apologies or compensation. I didn't eat any more after that.
Don't plan on going back, unless it's to the Guelph location.

Very nice staff, the portions are really big, and I would rate the fish quality as a 3 to 4 out of five, it's not too expensive, and most fish places are these days. The only thing I didn't like was the fries they are homemade cut up potatoes deep-fried which are usually really good, but somehow they don't taste as good as when I make fries at home. () All things considered, I would recommend.
But just have the fish and go elsewhere for the chips.
And pretty sure there's no juice. Just water and pop.

Not so good experience first time. Fish was ok but fries weren't cooked properly. Had to return it. By the time another batch of fries came, I already finished the fish. I might give it another try though. I know how to cook so giving 1 star 4now.

Good food at fair price. We enjoy Golden on a regular basis. Batter on fish is very light with just the right amount of crispiness. I personally love her mashed potatoes which are a very good option.

Fish is always perfectly cooked with a light crispy batter! I always ask for fries well done because I like them crispy too! Always comes piping hot and fresh! Delicious

Always a great place to meet with friends. The sevice is friendly and fairly prompt. Fish was wonderful, and the fries are always good.

Great little Family place! Portion size very good! Nice light batter on the fish. Fries are excellent. Good friendly service and staff. Food nice and fresh & hot. Interior nice and clean. Interior decor is average. But, not many places have fresh fish and servings like this place! Its my "go to place" for Haddock or any fish species in the Kitchener/ Waterloo area. Never had a bad meal in the last 7 or 8 years!

My go to for fish and chips. Where else can you get Halibut at a affordable price. Very simple place, kind servers and always clean. A older crowd that appreciates the prices. You have to try the Halibut. The cod is also good.

Went in on a Tuesday at 7pm. Signage states restaurant closes at 7: 30pm. I was told dine-in was closed. Why say you're open until 7: 30 if you are not?

I've personally never eaten there. But kitchen seems clean, Hand cut french fries and the owners are extremely nice people.

Really amazing food and service at reasonable prices. Fish was battered and deep fried very well and was very fresh. Overall, highly recommend this establishment if you're looking for only the best fish and chips.

Always friendly, and always delicious! 2 piece fish and chips is my staple go to. Doesn't matter what kind of fish.it's always cooked to perfection.

Pretty good but a bit pricey. Fish was great but wasn't thrilled with the fries. They were cut quite thick so I found them mealy. Service was great.

One of the better fish and chip shops I've had since moving to Canada.
A bit pricier than other fish and chip shops which is fine given the quality, but when asking for HP sauce you are given a tiny dish of it, I get why it's done but I personally don't appreciate it. For that reason Golden doesn't get the full 5 star rating it could.

Very nice and cozy little place.
They are a bit pricey, but it is really good quality.
Most of the customers are families and elderly and that's how you know they are good.
They have tables for 4 and a big table for groups.

Best ever fresh fish. The chips are fresh and clearly made in house. I recommend the Haddock for a better than excellent taste. The decor is minimal but nice, clean and welcoming. The staff are always very pleasant and food is prepared fresh for each order.

Okay place to grab a bite, but they need to promote themselves better, if they were busier I feel like the quality would go up because their stock would be fresher.
