GoodLife Fitness Ottawa Queensview

It's showing it's age. I first went there 38 years ago. Movati decimated Queensview. Took the best trainers and all the women left. Then it became a creepy bro gym and I left. Good news is since all the women left the creepy bros quit and went to Movati. Now it's an old man gym which I enjoy. Goodlife has a better vibe than Movati now which feels very counter intuitive.

Sadly there are no 5 star gyms in Ottawa. They still have a few in California. Goodlife Queensview loses a point because the sauna smells weird and the equipment is old. Also the annual flooding since the bad retrofit of the change rooms about 12 or so years ago. It gains a point back because I know the times of day it is quiet now. Anytime Fitness would also be a decent Ottawa choice if there is one close to your home.

There is 3 squat racks usable to the entire gym. They have a huge and empty personal trainer section that is empty with free squat racks just sitting there. Asked if I can use it and was denied access.

Unfortunately this gym should only be 50$ a month this is not a top end gym. It does its purpose but they really need to fix the equipment that is in red tape. Also they need to replace or remove all the tvs that aren’t working well. Cheap gym.
Staff is very nice.

I don’t think we give enough credit to Flexibar class! I did the class today with June. After the class my body felt to relax. Specially my neck. I recommend this class to anyone who need to step out of the same routine and experience something different and challenging.

The club, (and/or its landlord), is very slow to make repairs when they are needed, and are essential to keeping the club operating. Two examples. First: three showers were closed for about a year and a half due to issues with the drain pipes.

Most importantly, the club has closed, for several days, on three separate occasions! Due to flooding caused by rain. They closed off part of the change rooms to make repairs so this wouldn't happen again, this was a couple of months ago! Guess what, the club is closed again due to flooding.

Love the class instructors and front-desk staff here. Shout out to June and her amazing body pump and flexi-bar classes. Also, really like the quash courts and steam sauna.

Customer service at this gym is optimum! Great staff and instructors. An honourable mention to Kevin at front desk who has the most consistent buoyant personality I have ever met! So contagious! It’s so inviting to walk in and be greeted by NAME with a warm smile. This man is the ideal customer service associate and serves as a great role model of what a Goodlife Employee should represent. Always feel welcomed there. Overall a great gym location.

Excellent gym and staff. The facility always has a decent layout of machines and cleanliness. Only disappointing thing is the early closure on weekends.

Queensview GoodLife is an awesome fitness club. Having attended many GoodLife gyms across Ottawa and Ontario over the years, I must say that this particular gym has a very friendly and inclusive atmosphere that makes it stand out. It’s also kept super clean and the staff and instructors are top notch! Well done Queensview!

Best GoodLife in town, by far. The staff is amazing too, especially June - she gives the best pointers and is genuinely driven by the success of her clients. Not to mention Kevin, he’s so helpful, motivating and makes me feel welcome at all times. I highly recommend this gym!

What makes this GoodLife a special place for me are the employees. I can’t express how grateful I am for June’s positivity and support. She really helps pushes us to our greatest limits and she cares so much!
Secondly, Kevin, the front desk agent is such a star! He always greets us with a big smile and truly makes me and my friend feel welcomed. I can’t express how much I recommend this location over any other GoodLife in Ottawa. I have 2 locations closer to my home and I go out of my way to Queensview just for these two! 1000% recommend. You don’t regret it.

An employee at this location, Tammy, has helped make this location my preferred gym. She’s so friendly and kind. The gym is always so clean and supplies replenished when she’s working. I really appreciate the effort she puts in to make the gym a welcoming place. She is absolutely lovely!

Amazing service from Mr Kevin. First time at this location. Mr Kevin was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly in showing me around. Would highly recommend asking for him if you have questions.

Another great location! Lots of equipment and classes to join. The staff is super friendly. Kevin at the front desk is most memorable. He’s always in such a good mood and super helpful with any questions you may have.

Kevin at the front desk is always the most welcoming face to walk in to! Even if it’s 10pm he’s still excited to see everyone!

Steam room hasn't been working for awhile. The only reason I go there. May have to start going to movati instead. The showers haven't been working for a year, who know how long the steam room will take

Highly recommend June’s BodyPump and Flexi-bar classes. June demonstrates her infectious joie de vivre during every single class. Clearly, her dedication to teaching and caring for her students is appreciated by the many who attend her classes. She is an expert.
Shout out, also, to the front desk staff who are always friendly and welcoming. This is a super GoodLife.

One of the group classes I frequent Body Pump. The Instructor June is incredible. Demonstrates proper technique, new to the class no problem she walks you thru the exercises with examples to keep us safe.

Went here for a work out and then decided to take a shower. Biggest mistake. There was feces in the shower stall I was showering in. Should have kept my covid mask on during my shower. Also, the steam room does not properly function.

Update your hours or fire your Sunday worker.it's now 7: 30am and nobody has come to open the doors. It was suppose to open at 7am. Many ppl here waiting and some have left because this is insane. I'd like to know why you aren't open cause sure seems like everything is OK around the building. I don't think another business would handle their business this way. Way to show you don't care for people that keep your power on.

This place needs to be 24 hrs again! It was a great gym to go to but adjusting the hours due to covid and not reverting back to the original times once everything was lifted makes it garbage!

Great gym, one of the best gyms to work out at. My only complaint would be the assistant manager being too short. Other than that, would definitely recommend this gym to any avid or non-avid gym goer.

Queens view Goodlife Club is a great gym with some squash courts.
I have to say, Kevin is the most responsible employee in the Goodlife club. My boyfriend and I are on a family membership. We were facing problems with enrollment and transferring accounts. I have asked several employees in other Goodlife clubs, even calling for the Goodlife headquarters, but they were not able or willing to solve. Kevin was patient and generous to help us solve these complicated issues.

I am appreciated his help and working attitude.

Love this gym been going here since my college days took a hiatus off due to competitive sports and when I came back saw familiar faces and a warm welcome back. Exploitative business model. Frequent floods. Poorly maintained equipment.

Avoid GoodLife in general, and this location specifically.

First time I visited this location. It was quite big although the free weight section was very small with 5 benches max. Secondly some of the weights on the machines were miss calibrated by ALOT. The 150lb was more like 70lb and on other machines 70lb was more like 150lb. This could potentially really hurt someone and is dangerous. When I brought this up with the staff they where abit confused and said it makes for good motivation? During covid times there really wasnt many cleaning stations at all and the most used section being the free weights, benches ect was in the smallest space possible compared too the rest of the building. Only reason why I would come back is because it's close, but usually I drive the extra 10 minutes for the kanata locations.

Edit: just noticed that they failsely claim too be 24/7.

Staff is nice its just the price. If your new then try with somewhere else like Planet Fitness but if you're into professional workout or serious about working out then this is the best out there for you. Only rating them less because of the prices.

I love this place because they got more than everything you need and bonus, it's big and they have the Squash

This location has some unique machines that are not available elsewhere. The high ceilings give the weight room a sense of airiness. And if you like a quiet gym, the weight room was just that, which is very uncommon. Here's the problem though, the showers, like almost all Goodlife locations, are not scrubbed. To add insult to injury, the showers today reeked of feces.

Sunday, October 27,2019 - This Gym is supposed to open at 8: 00AM. Currently it is 8: 33AM and there are about 50 members outside waiting for the GoodLife Staff to arrive late for work.

Very nice place, clean. Did a group yoga class, didn't realize it was workout yoga vs stretch and limber.
The process to pay a one day pass is inane. Cashless I can deal with.

Good gym facilities with lots of cardio, weights, and great squash courts. Could do without the toxic 70 year old body builder yelling and groaning and making strange comments in the weight room though.

I love the staff at queensview. They are always willing to help you and answer any questions you have. The facility is always clean including the change rooms and the environment is always pleasant. 98% of the time the equipment including cardio are functioning adequately in comparison to other locations where that is not the case. I’m always pleased with their customer service and friendly welcome gestures. Keep up the great work!

Today morning i went to the gym as usual around 5: 45 and I worked out for around 45 minutes around 6: 20, my wife was with me she was waiting for me near the entrance door on the massage chair, by mistake I walked out with the towel in my hand and i came back to put the towel in the bin. I tried to tap my key in the entrance but it wouldn't work. I called the girl who was roaming around to check what was wrong.

She came and checked and told me my membership has been expired since Last Dec. I was puzzled, i got into the gym this morning without any problem and there was a guy at the entrance this morning who greeted us i explained that to her and i also told her that i had been coming to the gym without any problem last week too.and I had a corporate membership

here is what she replies back to me that I must have sneaked behind some one, I got so upset when she said that to me and she said that to me in a bad tone. I asked her why was she speaking to me in that way and could she let me know what the issue was. I dont know what gave her the confidence to talk to me like that but she replies me saying what am i gonna do about it and to f*** out of her face.please check the cctv if u have around 6: 15 to 6: 45, i hope you guys have audio too.she was swearing at me I really dont wanna get back there any more, I hope the management takes action and get back to me and if no action is taken then probably she is right i cant do anything about it and be disrespected

I really enjoy working out here. The staff is very kind and the instructors actually know what they are doing.

A terrible corporation - they terminated their squash program nationwide without any consideration for their members nor the communities that have formed in these clubs. I am terminating my Goodlife membership and never coming back.

Decisions that are made by corporate CEOs that are completely out of touch with their clients only help bring down an institution; although, the CEO of Goodlife might have thought his/her decison makes sense financially to please shareholders ; this will only help stain your brand as a greedy, cheap one.

My advice is if you have other options go to another gym as they definitely respect and treat their members better than the management of this corporation. I will definitely advice all my friends to migrate to other health clubs and make sure they cancel their Goodlife membership.

This club has been home to one of the most competitive and dedicated squash communities for the past 20 years. Players have been proud to call the Queensview Goodlife their home-base, and their junior program is largely responsible for keeping the sport popular with the younger generations.

Cancelling the squash program disregards the loyal Goodlife members who have frequented the club for the past 20 years, in favor of slightly increased profit margins. Incredibly disappointing.

In Response to Owner Reply: The people that play squash there play there because of Heather Wallace and the programs. Without her, there will be a large exit of players.

Simply the Best Place in Town To Workout, great staff, equipment and clientele. Been a regular here now for 8 years. Get pumped or in shape in style!

I feel inauthentic to have originally given it a 3 star. I had only seen its women's area (which is very small) and its upstairs cardio area.

Now I've seen their Cybex Arc Trainer with a fan and I'm not worthy. 5 stars.

Goodlife is a greedy company which just announced that it will be cancelling all squash programming at their locations. This will eliminate one of the most active squash clubs in the whole city. Extremely disappointed in this decision, and I know that myself and many others will be cancelling their memberships immediately.

It is a poor decision by goodlife to terminate the Squash program. The squash program run by Heather Wallace (Leagues, tournaments clinics, juniors development etc.) has allowed a large number of people to be introduced to squash and also contributed in developing a great sense of community in the Ottawa/Gatineau area.
That decision means that Goodlife does not value the needs of their clients and does not recognize the sense of community.
What value added will you (goodlife) bring to your clients and in the community in the future?

I am a little disappointed. We all know resistance bands have become an important and useful tool in fitness. Goodlife Queensview has now restricted any access to the personal training section and locks up all the bands. Okay, fair enough but why not get bands everyone can use like the Stittsville location?
