Halibut House Fish and Chips

Fries weren’t cooked. Didn’t eat.
Halibut easy was frozen for months. Plastic taste. Didn’t eat.
5 star to the staff.

I was there today for lunch with my family and kids. Great service, friendly staff and great quality at a fair price!
I’ll be back for sure!

Honestly, I was taken back when I saw the cook eating out of a container with his fingers lapping up all the ketchup (with his fingers) then proceeding to continue cooking my food after a simple quick water finger rinse no soap. The Fish was thoroughly cooked but the batter was not cooked through. The chips were over cooked.
The gal at the counter was courteous and polite.
For a first try sadly it will be my last. Hygiene needs to be revisited especially post covid most of us are hyper sensitive to cleanliness and hygiene.

Worst service ever. One server who really cared. Others focused on money gave a huge tip but feel they owe me

We have recently moved to Bronte and Friday is always fish and chip night. Halibut House never fails. Order is delivered promptly. Halibut, chips and onion rings are consistently perfectly done. Very generous portions!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoy this restaurant. Very good food and extremely nice staff. It’s a regular destination now that we found it.

Visited with family last week and the food was good, but our original server seemed to completely forget about us when we needed service. Thankfully another server was lovely and came over to help us with everything (as well as several other tables). Thanks to Joanne for saving this experience!

Decent, could be better. We were disappointed. The portion of fish was not adequate for the price ($36 for two small pieces with tons of batter) and the fries were over cooked and unseasoned. Caesar dressing was out of a bottle and mediocre. Great service, food came fast.

We love sea food and were drawn to the unique sign and front window. This place was clean and the service was very good. The food was good. The portions were satisfactory. We had the haddock which was prepared nicely and French fries.the French fries were just okay. Nothing really bad to say about this place. If I had to grade them it would be a B.

Very expensive for the portion size. Food was good. Men's bathroom was very dirty and smelled of urine.

Having read recent reviews of thick batter to not changing the oil I was a bit apprehensive meeting 2 colleagues for lunch. Glad to be proved wrong I chatted with the female server (who was a delight) and mentioned the batter and she said she would ask the cook to try to use less batter and drain off excess. Our meal was excellent, thin light crispy batter, not the least bit oily. Chips fresh and crispy golden, I personally prefer a bit more done but that’s not a complaint. We have committed to meeting up monthly so will be back.

Excellent light 'n tasty batter makes a difference to Halibut House'sFish & Chips. Big Surprise! The selection of deserts are out of this world, too.

It was great to have lunch there. The fish was fresh and very nice. Sherry was super nice and very professional. Her service was A+.

What has happened?

On mother's day I decided to pickup from Halibut House.the location is across the street from my house so i did not have far to travel.

Batter use to be light and crisp to it. The Halibut and the batter was tough. Almost as if it was sitting for some time, or over cooked. Really disappointed. I dont know if it was in anticipation of being a busy day.that they would have the food already fried and possibly cooked again to speed up serving times.

I ordered 2 fish one with sweet potato fries and one with regular fries. I was given 2 regular fries one a side order if sweet potato fries. These days money is scares *I didnt need that extra charge. I didnt notice till I got home

Coleslaw tasted like raw fish had been sitting on it. I'm not into sushi so it was just a gross end to the meal. Mentioned it to the server and got an apology. I don't recommend this Halibut House.

If you want fish go elsewhere, and if you want good customer service go further. Forgotten order, they denied it, and then no support or compassion. Do not order here. They deserve 0 stars but 1 saved them.

My favourite fish and chips place in all of Burlington.

And the biggest reason is the staff. They are incredibly friendly and helpful. The fish is also really well prepared, and hand battered and fried.

Love the mushrooms as a starter too.

Ordered uber eats from here for the first time today. Food tasted great. But there is not nearly enough cheese in the poutine. If there was this would be a 5 star review.

This was our go-to fish and chip joint since moving to the area but most recently they changed their tarter sauce… deal breaker for us! Please bring back the old tarter sauce!

Be wary of the quality, having been part of the food industry as a QA specialist and process engineer, i can guarantee they are not changing the cooking oil regularly to save costs, AND they are using the same oil to fry everything, i know the taste of bad oil and this place definitely needs an inspection. Also they aren't draining the oil properly after cooking.

Have read about this restaurant for a while on the Facebook Burlington restaurant site. Decided to try one day after work. Was absolutely delicious and will definitely go back!

It was very busy when we visited, but the food was delicious! We had the halibut and chips, and chicken fingers and chips, and both were crispy, crunchy, and very good. We found the halibut to be evenly battered and not too greasy which was really nice. Special shout-out to Sherry who was taking orders for dine in customers, and also taking orders for a long lineup of take out customers, and also expediting delivery orders! It was a busy night but handled with professionalism all around:)

I was so disappounted on my last visit 2 weeks ago. The fish was over battered and thick and very little fish. The fries were cold. I did send an e mail but heard nothing back.

I ordered the Monday night special and I received halibut instead for $16.95. The fish and chips and service was good I just did not receive what I asked for. Normally I would’ve waited for my right order but I was pressed for time. There is obviously a communication/Language problem.

Best fish and seafood ever! Fresh, flavourful, not greasy or burnt or soggy, always consistent golden textured battered fish, seafood and fries!

Your mouth will water as they prepare your order, and you will savor each bite.um um good

Owners, chefs and servers are always pleasant and welcoming, never rush you if you eat in.

Bring your appetite to this hidden gem as portion sizes are plentiful! Prices are very reasonable.

Wil be going back to them and suggest all seafood and fish lovers do the same! You will not regret it.

OMG! This place is AMAZING!
We aren't from around here, we were here just for a mini vacation. Husband and I really wanted some great fish and chips. I looked on here and this place had amazing reviews! I can definitely see why! The customer service is amazing, and the food is soooooo good! Better then a fish and chip place we usually go to back home.

I highly recommend this awesome fish and chip place!
(Oh and we got take out and brought it back to our hotel and it was still HOT! Amazing!)

Great portion sizes, delicious fish and crispy chips. Definitely a go to location for fish and chips.

Of coarse the Fish n Chips are fantastic.

They are also open for breakfast were I enjoyed great Bacon n Eggs, Toast n Coffee.

We have been loyal customers since opening never had a bad meal until tonight.
Fries were overcooked and the fish was like rubber.quality should be better at a time like this.
