Halibut House Fish & Chips

Halibut House Fish and Chips in general are excellent, but this location on Dundas Street in Burlington is the absolute best fish and chip place anywhere. We like everything very crisp and they make it perfectly for us. Both the fish and the chips. However, they are very accommodating and I'm sure they could vary the crispness to suit your tastes. My wife loves the fish tacos while I have the basic fish and chips. Coleslaw is oil and vinegar based and is super fresh and not too oily. Perfect! Service also can't be beat. Friendly and accommodating.
If you like fish (chicken fingers as well) you must try this restaurant. Finish your dinner with Cheese Cake Factory cheese cake.

Food was fantastic and the young waitress was very sweet. We were pleasantly impressed with the portion size of fish! We have tried other location fish and chip restaurants yet Halibut House was right on the money! We feel like we got what we paid for. Thank you.

Best fish and chip in town. Their Cod&Chips special has became our go-to dinner option every Wednesday.

I had the pleasure of dining at Halibut House recently, and it was truly a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was exceptional, the fish was cooked to perfection, flaky and flavorful, and paired with delicious sides that complemented the flavors beautifully. It's evident that they take great care in sourcing high-quality ingredients.

The service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made excellent recommendations and ensured that our dining experience was enjoyable.

While the quality of the food and service was outstanding, I also appreciated that the prices were reasonable for the quality of the dining experience. It felt like a great value for the delicious meal we enjoyed.

In summary, Halibut House is a gem of a restaurant. If you're a seafood lover or just looking for a fantastic dining experience, I highly recommend giving them a try. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu offerings.

Love fish abd chips. Was lunch time when I discovered this location in a plaza full with food outlets. Nicely decorated. Service was too notch. The haddock wasn’t dry but moist. Was a thin piece but I wouldn’t return it. Tried the mushrooms an appetizer and was great. Nice lunch place with great service I

I had the halibut and fries with coleslaw; fish was perfectly battered and a good size portion, homemade fries and coleslaw also really good.
Great service too from Sophia. I'll definitely be coming back.

Very pleasant experience! The employees were helpful and friendly, even though it was jam-packed for Good Friday. Every time I've been here, Jacob has helped us and has been very professional. Love this place!

This was our first time there it was very clean including the bathrooms service was very fast and friendly and the best fish I've ever eaten our waitress Marwa is a super nice girl always checking on us making sure everything was great the fish was not greasy at all best experience I've had over for dinner in a long time

Service is above and beyond incredible. The serve staff remembered our order from being in months before, first-time. So extremely pleasant and eager to please. Food is exceptional. Very highly recommend this as a stop if you love fish 'n chips that are served hot, tasty and with a smile.

The Fish was great, the fries needed salt. Now the tartar sauce needs to be thrown out they've gone bad. I was up all night begging God no lie. This seems funny but I'm not joking, please throw out all the tartar sauce and buy some new ones before you accidentally unalive someone.

Edit: This was an order and I don't recall seeing salt in the bag but that wasn't a big deal. The tartar sauce was in a packet. Please please throw them out.

I don’t purchase fish and chips often (once or twice a year). Very disappointed today. Fries were cold and dry. Fish had a strong smell to it. Ended up being sick afterwards. Will not be returning.

Quiet for lunch time. Server was very attentive and helpful with suggestions. Cheesecake Factory dessert is delicious anytime!

This Halibut House location is exceptionally good. The food is always incredible and the portion sizes are well worth the money. The halibut tastes great and the fries are fantastic! I would recommend this restaurant for dine-in or takeout. The employees are super friendly and the restaurant is very clean.

Halibut House 3600 Dundas is my go to place in Burlington for Fish and Chips. The food is amazing and the owner at this location makes my fries exactly as I love them. Besides the great food you can top your meal off with a double chocolate piece of Cheese Cake from the Cheese Cake Factory.doesn't get any better than this.

Over the past few years, we would order from this place once a month; the meal was always good and came with a healthy portion of fries and fish for the price point. A nice spot for a quick meal on a busy day.

We recently decided to order our first meal under the new management and they seem to be very friendly and flexible.

We ordered a couple orders of halibut and chips and it was slightly disappointing overall. The batter itself was quite sticky, almost feeling underdone or that the oil wasn't hot enough to crisp the outer layer to get that satisfying crunch. The fish itself was very tough. We were expecting the typical soft flaky portion that is easily cut by a knife, however both portions had to be sawed apart with a knife to carve out a bite size portion. Lastly, the fries were generous but were underwhelming as they didn't have either the thick-cut bite or the crisp and salty texture you would expect from fries. They were inbetween those two worlds which didn't quite satisfy either expectation.

I am hopeful that this was merely a bad batch of fish or a rare occurrence of faulty preparation and have high hopes for the next time we order, but it was a disappointing meal.

$20 for take out fish and chips with a can of pop, no Cole slaw, no tartar sauce, no ketchup and the fries tasted like stale cardboard. I work too hard for my money to waste it on this.

Normally I eat pretty healthy, but during Covid lockdown felt like something different.
Placed a dinner take out order for Halibut and chips, with a side coleslaw for two, picked it up at the Walkers line and Dundas location in Burlington.
This location looked clean, and once everything is open again, inviting enough to dine in.
I was pleasantly surprised once I got home to find a nice lightly battered large piece of Halibut with a generous amount of thick cut fries or “chips”.
Normally fish comes heavily battered and greasy, this one I felt was lighter and healthier (as healthy as fried fish can be)
Lots of chips, they were good, left plain for you to season or add vinegar, so large a portion I couldn’t finish them all so my dog was happy to help!

Overall a great dinner that I will definitely get again, great portion size, good price ($15.95) light batter.
. Oh by the way, for cheesecake lovers they do have Cheesecake Factory slices for dessert!

The halibut and chips were really good. The fish is flaky and the coleslaw that I ordered on the side made our meal a. Ohhh la! La. PERFECTO! It really filled our cravings. It was worth the drive to go to Halibut House. Your staff are wonderful, thank you for the good service.

Good fish and chips. More chips than one person should eat, so if ordering for two, go for the two fish one chips option.

Wow! Perfectly done. Hard to find good fish and chips restaurants. I definitely will be visiting again. My wife and daughter enjoyed it as much as I did.

What a spectacular place! From the outside, it looks very plain and simple. When you walk in the door, I felt like I was on the East Coast eating at Oceanside restaurant. The Decour was on point and the restaurant was absolutely impeccable. Went with the halibut special, halibut and fries. It was delicious. The fries tasted like fresh cut potatoes and all I needed to add was a little salt. The halibut was freshly prepared in front of me and battered just right! Perfect proportions and price is on point! I am not a huge fan of fish and chips but they’re having a great buy one get one 50% off right now so I figured, why not give it a try? First of all, the portions are huge but I am not complaining. The fish (got the halibut) was nice and flaky and the batter was perfectly crispy and delicious. They have a very generous serving of fries and my only regret is not ordering coleslaw as it would’ve complimented the meal very well. I will definitely be back again.

Best halibut & chips in a long long time, everything was super fresh and delicious! You get a huge portion of chips with the fish. Even in a pandemic, the customer service you get here is amazing, quick, sufficient and friendly! Definitely recommending this location to my friends&family. First time at this location. We were disappointed that the Mon special was not being honoured due to Victoria day holiday. The food was great! Generous portions and perfectly cooked. We had haddock and chips and the seafood platter. Service was a little slow but very polite and friendly - waitress may be new. Overall happy with our experience here.
