We enjoyed eating here regularly a few years ago, We stopped by today and were greeted by your server Matt "Hi Guys". How disrespectful to my Wife and I.when we paid our bill his response was "there you Go" there was kitchen staff with long hair and no hairnets, the glasses were dirty and scratched the worse for wear. The haddock was rubbery, and the batter was hard. And way overpriced the reason I gave a one star rating is that is that I don't have the option to go lower
This was my third and last time here today. My husband asked for 2-piece halibut and the waitress responded, are you sure do you know how much it costs? High prices are implied when going into a f&c place, we didn't need to be educated. But what we actually got for $50 for 2 pieces of fish was embarrassing for them. Mostly batter. Sliced so thin. No coleslaw on the plate. When we asked for more tartar sauce she said we can buy a larger container for $2. I told her for the price we are paying it should be included. She suggested if we cannot afford it we shouldve ordered haddock. Seems that's their answer whenever ppl complain because I've heard from others. Not here to discuss what I can afford with her. I was going to ask to speak to the owner/manager but I figured since he didn't come out when she went to the kitchen to roll her eyes at me it was pointless. He only came out to see us leave.
Ordered haddock and rice. It tastes ok but the take-out bowl holding the rice looks like it melted from inside? The rice was served really hot and the inside wall of the foam bowl had a weird unusual texture. I suggest the manager look into this. Also, one of the staff there made a random low-level joke when I was checking out.
First time at this restaurant and will be my last. If you like chips that have been cremated, the same with the fish, this was possibly the worst fish and chips I have ever had. The cost for this tasteless virtually inedible meal was over $26. The mushy peas were very watery but at least the gravy was tasty. A very poor representation of what fish and chips should be.
I think the management has changed and the service was very poor. They gave us glass of water which had lipstick mark on. Previously fish used to come with tarter sauce this time I had to ask for it. Overall poor customer service but food was great.
I will have to drop my latest review of this shop from a 4 to a 3. Went recently and they didnt have Halibut which is my preferred meal seemed they havent had it for a number of days. I ordered cod and chips. I found that the portion of cod was very small suposto be (6oz). This compared to many orders of haddock I have also ordered in the past which were way larger portions of fish. The food was good as usual but I had always gone back to Heritage as their portions always seemed to be consistent. Maybe it was an off chance the 2 pieces were on the smaller size and not usual but in my opinion for the price the portion seemed light.
Great service, great food. Good variety of entrees- not just fish- British pub food. Kids menu. Loved the cheese balls (appetizer) and we always upgrade two of our three orders to sweet potatoe fries and onion rings so we’ve got all three sides (traditional fries) to chomp on! Had the haddock and cod. Liked the haddock more but both cooked well- crispy, flaky and delish!
One of the best fish n chips spits in Milton. Authentic and quality food. Will definately visit here often. The owners are great folks, pationate about the food they cook, very friendly and awesome service.
2021 October 1 star Understandbly we are in a covid environment, and that this location is having issues with teenagers from a local high school - but these and other issues are no reason for poor quality and negative attitudes.
Friday Oct 15 2021, I picked up the family special woth mozzeralla sticks. The fish was dry almost stale and the mozza was almost cold and hard. And they taped up the bag so I didn't find out they forgot the marinara sauce (which adds to the kicker below).
My families have been long time customers because of the food quality and service. But that seems to have changed. The kicker was when I asked for a few more tartar sauces and HFC wanted me to pay extra. It wasn't the extra that was the concern, it was the ridiculous attitude as seen when the server exlaimed 'have a good day' when I decided not to put up with the attitude after a long day at the office.
There are so many other F&C options in Milton. Not sure what happened to HFC but doubt we will go back.
Previous rating (2019) 3.5 stars
Clean, simple and not bad value for dollar. We have a lot of Brits in the family which know a bit about fish'n chips and they appreciate the dishes here.
Update: been visiting many times now. The food has always been better than average. The dine-in service depends on the server (i.e. Good or average). The take-out service is simple and efficient. Definitely a family atmosphere restaurant.
If you are passing through, it is worth a visit especially if you have a craving for fish'n chips; you'll probably become a regular.
Waitress always remembers our order. The fish and chips/mashed potatoes with grave is always nicely cooked and tasty. You can have a good chat in a quiet atmosphere.
New to Milton.the wife and I were not sure what to eat.we had previously a bad experience with fish and chips at Niagara On The Lake with the food and service.how glad I am that we decided to try out Heritage Fish & Chips (Milton). The owner, Tomek, greeted me with such warm energy and genuine will to make my experience great. We ordered the Haddock and it was absolutely delicious. Good portion for a good price. Lots of fish not just breaded thick.the mashed potatoes, sause and coleslaw all delicious. Decided to dine in (great choice). Tomek checked on us and was an absolute pleasure to meet as a human. Covid has really negatively impacted the service industry and standard of customer service.and Tomek has renewed my faith. Thank you for a pleasant experience. I left he restaurant happy and I NEVER leave reviews but this ONE deserved it!
The nicest of people, they were almost ready to go home and they got my pouting made for me. Not a great paying order for them. BUT, they did it with a smile. OMG, their POUTINE is D E L I C I O U S!
Terrible it was all reheated fish and chips the fish were thin and dry and they charged $40 for two fish and one chips all reheated one word to describe is Disappointing. I highly recommend not to go here
I ordered the special - only $10 for 2 pc fish and chips, or $13 if you substitute for poutine. The portions are large and it's a great deal. The poutine is great, and the fish are as well. I'd recommend coming here.
Thank you soo very much for your awesome service! And for serving me while honouring my mask exemption! And for that. I will be bringing more people your way to experience the poutine of their life ️
The poutine here is very good that’s all I go for as I don’t eat fish but as say my wife she likes the fish and chips here but my rating is based on the poutine it’s that good
Never had a bad meal here. Received exceptional customer service this past week. We didn't realize they had to close early with CV lockdown restrictions in mind. We ordered just before they closed and they got the food readied and ensured we could get our order prior to closing the doors. Instead of worrying about ending their day, they were more concerned we enjoyed ours. Class acts here.
Amazing quality. Great service. Fair prices. My favorite franchise for fish and chips. Food comes fast and the fish is always consistently tasty and big. Obviously better when you eat at the resturant. But takeout is still very good.
We love Heritage in Milton! My wife and I meet here for dinner quite often and it's become a ritual at the end of a long work week. We call it our "fish friday" and it's always good, every time and i'm talking many many times. Its family run, and the staff have always been great. We love Tracy our waitress, who we usually seek out as our server. For us its a friendly place where we know we'll enjoy the meal, get good value and fast service. We are in and out quickly and we're always satisfied although we're not looking for the best Fish and chips on the planet or holding them up to some 100+ year old institution in Liverpool. It's a strip Mall in Milton so get a grip. Try em out cuz as I said, we love Heritage. 5 gold stars:)
Charging local Milton's 2 dollars for tarter sauce? While Burlington and Oakville locations don't charge? This is why I don't support any business that don't care about its customers.
I am the KFE certified chef from London, UK that visited this shop 9 months ago and I have to say there isn’t much improvement. It’s kind of funny because the chef claimed they are “the best fish and chips shop in Town”. TBH, that isn’t hard as all the fish and chips shop are way below standards.
Improvements needed: -Packaging The fish was squashed in a small chip box with the chips. This produces a soggy battered fish. I recommend you get a large box with a few side holes so it provides ventilation to the food as well as a large enough box to fit the food in properly.
-Batter has no flavor I don’t know who produced that batter but that chef must have a palate of a cow’s backside. Review the recipe.
-Portion sizes I got two small cods which means they are cutting the fish too small or they are getting frozen fish from suppliers which is unacceptable for the “best fish and chips shop in town”.
-Broken batter It is essential to keep the batter intact and to not let it break. To add, the fish must stick to the batter. As they failed to do so, there was excess oil in between batter and fish.
-Tartar sauce needs to be freshly made The fact that the tartar sauce is outsourced should tell you a lot about the standards of this fish and chips shop.
Things they did right: -Chips were much improved. Skinned properly, fresh and tasted good -Fish batter had a good color -The oil tasted fresh and clean
I adore this place! They serve tasty meals, their menu is nice, The chef in that place is a specialist, I enjoy very much eating all their dishes. The food is consistently fresh and tasty, the service towards the clients is friendly. I often go to this restaurant and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend it with no hesitation.
If you are a fish and chips lover as I am, you will get your money's worth at this fine establishment. They are very clean, their serving size is good and regardless of which fish you choose from their menu, you will be pleased. Price is moderate. Highly recommended!
The food was well prepared, and delicious. However, the highlight of our experience was the dine-in experience led by our server AJ. She was pleasant, courteous, attentive, and the main reason why I would return to this location. Give this girl a raise!
Even during the height of We supported this place ordering every week to support the local businesses. I placed and order today and the place is stingy to give people condiments. I did not want Ketchup, salt pepper or vinegar, Just wanted some extra Tarter Sauce, they can only afford to give one small pack of Tartar sauce. Prices don't shrink only the condiments. Never again will I give any business to such a horrible place. Fish and chips go with tarter sauce, Please do not waist your money here as you will also only get one small tarter sauce per person. So many other Fish & chip places in Milton I can give my money to. Such a horrible experience. Never again will Heritage see a copper from me. Very unhappy customer. If you don't have the condiments for customers, don't operate a business. The arrogance and attitude sickens me to the stomach.
Great lunch and dinner place with great staff members such as TRACY she was very kind, friendly and nice she served us impressively! Prices are worth the food we got Haddock, Basa fish & chips with onion rings today as well as a kids meal which was also at an amazing price and great tasty quality food! They had a great response to COVID-19 for dine in and are sanitizing in a well professional manner Thanks TRACY and Heritage Fish & Chips team!
I checked the reviews and I can't believe, that some say they didn't get enough to eat. My god. I can eat alot and I couldn't finish all the food.everything was great tasting and I will go back. I should have took pictures. And yes they didn't wear gloves but the cook did Wash his hands well we were there 5 STARS for you
There are plenty of great restaurants in Milton to support however stay away from heritage fish and chips Milton. I had a problem with my order and decided to call in (not the first time) Luckily the owner answered however his customer service was not what you would expect. He did not care to listen about the mishap that was on their end. But he was full force ready to scream at me as he did and told me it’s my fault and he’s not doing anything about it. I tried to offer solutions as he did not however he decided to hang up on me. His manner as an owner was so disgusting. I will be contacting head office fish and chips. 0*
Came all the way from Cambridge to Milton to get the Halibut and chips. Prices are normal for what you get, service was great, and the Quality was excellent. Cambridge needs a Heritage Fish and Chip Shop.
We ordered from Doordash (the app won't let me rate) for a specific time. The food came 15 min early and barely warm, everything was soft/soggy and the oil tasted old. Probably better suited for dine-in (although that's not an option right now due to Covid). It's a bit on the pricey side as well considering portions.
Best poutine ever! Price is reasonable and you get a lot for $5 still warm and gravy is awesome and fries are cooked just right! Nice and welcoming staff.
Great fish and chips. Used to love coming for the haddock lunch special frequently when I worked in the area. The Halibut is better, but also more pricey being the better fish imho. Cant go wrong with this place as portions are large as well.
This place has terrible customer service (except for the big caucasian man). They treat the customers with attitude and the food is sub par. I've seen them yell at students for doing nothing, and then not yell at the misbehaving students.
Best traditional fish and chips in Milton. Watch the lunch hour thou as the local high school makes the place busy. The staff however serve the customers at great speed.
It was pleasant surprise this restaurant. When we first went in, I wasn't sure a Fish & Chips place in Canada would live up to my expectations - but it sure did! Left like I was back in London at the corner pub having a delicious meal! If you haven't been, it's a must.
I tried Heritage for the first time about 5 months ago. The fish is far superior to other places in town. Halibut I find now is very dry but not here. Price is on par or less than other places in town. This is your best choice in town.
Great staff! Always friendly and time efficient! Great fresh food! Come here whenever my husband and i dont feel like cooking dinner and we are never disappointed! (:
Must visit for delicious, authentic fish ‘n chips experience. The ambience was okay-good. The place was quite busy and (hence?) the service was a little slow, but the food was totally worth it. Food: Ambience: Price: Wait time:
