I have been a long time ember of hone fitness but due to their employee giving me the wrong information on cancellation they are continuing to charge me and are saying they will continue if i do not pay up.i HAVE BEEN A MEMBER FOR TWO YEARS AND ONLY CANCELLED AS I HAVE LEFT THE COUNTRY! They refuse to take any accountability for their poor training and take multiple days to get back to me. Stay away from this gym as their is virtually no customer service.

Overall a very good gym at a reasonable fee. An excellent assortment of equipment and you generally don't have to wait for cardio machines (unlike the YMCA on Grosvenor.) Two minor quibbles: the gym is a bit warm and could stand the a.c. On a bit more/cooler, and the hand dryer in the men's change room is basically useless. People end up using toilet paper from the closest stall to dry their hands, then clog the same toilet to discard it. Again, minor concerns but easy fixes.

This was a good gym that I enjoyed going to, but the cancellation prices are extremely predatory and unethical.

If I wanted to cancel my subscription, I had to give 45 days notice (during which I would be paying the subscription fee) and I would have to be charged an additional $50 + tax to cancel.

There is no other word than predatory for this kind of behavior, and people should know.

As many others have already said, this place has the worst customer service. The manager and trainer I dealt with literally gave me ptsd. Couldn’t get back into a gym setting for years.

How long can things remain broken and left unfixed at this gym?

Nothing gets fixed in time, the hand dryer in washroom has been broken for months, is this gym really this poor to replace one small hand dryer? Does that even meet regulation requirement when there is not even any paper towels? ! Not to mention how disgusting the whole washroom area is.

So many equipments broken and pieces missing.

Why does it only open till 6pm during the weekend? Are we still in pandemic or what?

Truly one of the worst gym I have ever been

All good except that:
1) They don't seem to repair or replace the old machines.
2) Weight plates are scarce, have they been slowly getting robbed?
3) it gets hot because of lack of air circulation and barely any AC.

OTHERWISE, I enjoy going to this gym, it's inside looks unique, it's colorful, and they have a variety of areas to train in different ways so people have their own space, such as a stretching/mat area, free weight area, squat rack/heavier weight area with benches, strength machine area, cardio machine area, etc. Although peak times are crowded, its membership price is great value for all the equipment you get. The shower area is kind of cold, and there are no benches near the showers so its a little hard to dress. There used to be more TVs but some were removed - unsure why, but I would love to see a variety of channels on TV, not just the sports and news channels. As you can see, its not the perfect gym, but its enjoyable and has a lot of positives which make it worth it over other gyms. My main feedback is: please fix broken machines within 2-3 weeks max, and please add fans to the cardio area since there's a lack of air circulation in that area.

This is the most bang for your buck gym in downtown Toronto if you like weight training! A variety of equipment and free guest privileges. The manager guy there Eric is awesome and super welcoming. Especially he's so knowledgeable about equipment and always willing to help. Highly recommend if you are serious bout lifting and looking for a new gym.

Absolutely love the place. There are minor issues with smells in the stairwell to the third floor and a lack of smaller weighted plates lying around but overall a great atmosphere, people, and simple.

20x better than whatever I had convinced myself. Tons of space and equipment, plenty of squat racks, folks attending to serious business with minimal hijinx. Incredibly friendly, attentive and responsive staff. Good stuff at a great price.

You definitely get what you pay for. This is a no bells and whistles gym. It's very open and spacious. It's very inclusive; all body types, varied nationalities. The crowd should not intimidate anyone who isn't a frequent gym goer. Pretty quite in the morning and daytime. There aren't many or any group classes. I've seen a sign advertising group space but I've never seen one. It's relatively clean but this isn't Goodlife where there is continuous and visible cleaners and supplies being restocked. But you aren't paying Goodlife fees, either. It should open earlier on weekends and stay open later during the week.

I come to this gym every time I come to Toronto. Super convenient, clean, and literally has everything you could want in a gym.

For about 18 biweekly no contract, access to multiple squat racks and lots of weights. Live locally to take full advantage since there are no showers

This is the best gym for the price in Toronto. Think GoodLife quality (minus sauna) for less than half the price.

Hours need to be extended. COVID restrictions r long gone.there are people who want to come really early in the morning and late at night. Good place other than that.

Love the vibe in this gym. The staff are very kind and keep the place clean.
The other members are very encouraging and you can feel the positive energy!

Terrible experience with this gym. They charged me during the pandemic, when the gym was not useable.over a year after the pandemic, I received a surprise notice saying that I owed them over $300. No previous notices were issued to say I was in default or owed outstanding fees or that my membership was intact. Just one big surprise bill. (It was a surprise because I never saw a charge on my credit card so I assumed that my membership was cancelled after I complained about pandemic charges). My fault for assuming but the very least someone could do is send a letter saying I owe money before charges rack up! Happy to switch to Goodlife and convince my friends at work and school to avoid this gym or risk loosing hundreds of hard-earned dollars. I’ve successfully convinced many and urge you to do the same. Cheers!

Let’s start with the hygiene:
I kept going back and forth for 3 weeks asking the stuff to clean the bathrooms and empty lockers from an old and rotten food UNBELIEVABLE.

The Manager ERIC is absolutely the least qualified person to handle any concerns or questions from the clients. No Empathy or any managerial skills.

When I come to him about the gym hours and how it
is supposed to close at 11pm and not at 9pm.

Of course because of COVID they had to close at 9pm sounds fair and reasonable but now that all restrictions have been lifted and we are in such a good place, all gyms are back to their normal hours except hone Fitness.

I have tried many times to raise my concerns and let The manger Eric know that many of us are frustrated because we paid certain fees and membership based on the original contract and we would like to go back to the original hours since the fees didn’t change.

He literally dismiss my concerns, bulled me over the phone “ I know who you are “ acted rudely and didn’t even bother to acknowledge my right as a customer.

So I decided to withdraw my membership and go somewhere else where I can feel safe “ Hygiene “ and my rights are respected “ the contract “ they told me that I have 12 month commitment and I need to pay them $99 + HST

I am definitely going to Consumer Protection Ontario and do what’s right and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

Excellent. Isabella is the mecca of all the hone fitness locations and I recommend all to go and check it out. Out of all the gyms out there I put Hone at the top.

Great spacious gym, had really good workouts there. Unfortunately I relocated to another location and I can tell that this is location is one of the best. 4 different big rooms to workout lots of mirrors and space even in the busy hour.

Affordable and a nice place to work out. Lots of new equipment with some tech, so not need to wait until someone finish their sets. There's also a juice/smoothie bar right next to it that its pretty great

Good space awful customer service, also mens washrooms always stinks. Tanning beds are not working and they don’t know when they’ll be fixed, machines are dusty and not well maintained.

Continues to try and take money out of my bank account after I was told my account was canceled by the front desk almost 2 years ago! Now I'm stuck with being told I need to pay a balance to (properly) cancel + another 30 days. Thieves. Stay away. They're just looking to screw people over and take money.

Amazing space and adequate equipment so you're not having to wait for others to finish. Plenty of sanitizer stations throughout.

Scammed out of two months of membership now despite being out of the country, and emailing the gym to let them know well in advance, and then cancelling again when they denied receiving that email even though I sent them receipts. Dealing with customers needs improvement for sure. I just needed to pause for two months but now I’ll be hard pressed to come back to this gym again.

I have been going to Hone fitness for three months now to get back in shape after the last lockdown.
Decent facility, clean, modest number of machines but large enough selection. I’ve even gone so far as to repost then on Instagram.
Today my girlfriend and I went in and the “manager” (Eric) together with a personal trainer came up to wave and speak to my friend. He introduced himself, shaking her hand (hello Covid?) then proceeded to get her a hair tie as she requested. My friend is in amazing shape, wearing a sports bra and a pair of leggings and because I am not in that type of shape I was completely ignored. When I confronted both parties I was laughed at and patronized due to my physical appearance and weight.

In 2021 I would hope we would live in a world that we aren’t judged based on our appearance especially when in a place to try to better it.

Dishinest business run by young, dishonest, unprofessional, immature people. For a while they were also employing discriminatory hiring policies by hiring only Portuguese-speaking people. This gym doesn’t belong in Toronto. Definitely would NOT recommend over GoodLife or Planet Fitness.

Wanted to sign up for a membership but after I saw so many negative reviews and that they still require u to sign a contract for one year or pay higher price I decided to go to Planet Fitness. They just lost me as a customer. Bad business practices.

The price is good for a gym and they offer massage chairs, showers. The machines are in good repair.

Downside is the staff and management. A trainer accused me of lying when he asked about something that was none of his business and then said "if we can't be honest then we're gonna have problems" because he somehow thought he was entitled to my privacy. But he was so desperate for a sign up, wouldn't let us talk, lol. My roommate already wanted to sign up so we did anyway, but that was a bad experience.

I saw a trainer yell at a poor girl to work harder, totally putting her down, and I could tell it wasn't good training, because he wasn't actually interested in helping. He sat and played on his phone. I'm glad I did not take up the one free training session. So unprofessional!

And at the end of a day, I was just waiting for my friend to finish with his workout, and the manager comes in yelling at everyone that they're closed. Cut the power and turned off the lights while people were showering. When someone complained, he said "what you pay is what you get". So health and safety violations are part of the price now too? I was seriously thinking of complaining to the city about it.

If you want a cheap place, it's OK, but honestly you'd probably be better off at Fit4Less or similar. The staff are so bad here. I doubt the alpha male trainers here even understand an iota of proper nutrition and fitness.

This puppy was a member of Hone in 2017. It was a good experience of my life ever that I have challenged and tried. They taught and helped this puppy to find how to efficiently make body balance. I miss all ex-members.

Great customer service and THE place to workout if you are on a business trip in Toronto! Hardly recommend this gym.

If you like a no-frills gym atmosphere, then this is the space for you. The price is right and the location couldn't be any more perfect. There are plenty of machines and it hardly ever feels busy unless you always go at peak times. You won't find tons of amenities but if you don't care about that, then it's an excellent option for you. The staff are great and welcoming and the management is understanding and fair. The other gym-goers tend to be friendly and I've rarely seen any toxic macho BS that you often see at certain other gyms. I have nothing bad to say about this gym. A great choice.

Best bang for your buck, myriads of perks on sign up with all facilities you'd expect from any other gym.

Can you guys get a metal straight bar for the cable machine in 2nd floor please.that's the only thing that you guys don't have

Buy more plates, dumbbell and barbells that are over 100 lbs, also a loadable EZ bar. Also if you go there put back your weights when you are done.

Good size gym at great price. Facility is bigger than what it looks from the outside. It's nice and clean and pretty well maintained.

If you wanna be a new member, they will tell you that you have a “ free personal training “ for one time. But that’s not truth, they will bring you to their office, and just talk to you and They will persuade, even force you to buy their program, it will make you very very uncomfortable. I bought 5 sessions and had really really bad experience. One of their trainers is not patient at all and very unprofessional! Just tell you that you have to follow this instructions and give you a paper. They won’t tell you the details about nutrition or composition of muscle, and if you ask that trainer, he will be like “ come on, don’t ask me anything stupid! Just follow my paper, okay? “ If you only give me a workout plan and recipe and you don’t tell me why should I need to eat like this or give me any useful suggestions. Why do I need a personal trainer? I just need to watch people’s blog or YouTube and follow their “ instructions “.
They can’t even give you refunds, if you don’t like their sessions. Fortunately, I’m going to train with new trainer. I hope it will be better.

The management must take notice and address the behaviour of the little Latino group at the main desk. Also, the fat African american (so called) trainer has a staring problem. Like we understand the gym is located near the village but dont be creepy especially that you are on duty. They are faaaaar from professional, Stare alot and I have seen them talk and laugh at members. Very immoral.

There was a problem with the cancellation due to my method of payment changing, but he quickly called me directly and made things right.

He really cares about the gym, members, and overall experience. Very understanding despite me being upset about a part of the policy. The customer service at the end of the day is superb since I can tell the owner (Sam) is super caring and smart about how to make the gym and all it’s locations run seamlessly for everybody to enjoy.

Highly recommended, since I anticipate things to eventually go wrong with companies not just with Hone, and then he really made it right by listening and providing a fair resolution. Long time members are seen with better favour.

Great gym on Yonge just south of Bloor. 2 floors and huge! They've got plenty of cardio machines, assisted weight machines, free weights, and even a great training section with ropes and TRX. They have multiple locations. And their purpose is simple. They deliver everything without the fluff. Memberships are only $15 bi-weekly. And you can cancel anytime. It really can't get any less expensive than that. They charge so little because their facilities are basic. But if your purpose is to workout. You found the right spot. It's not about atmosphere, they don't have classes or a class schedule, no one barely uses the showers. It's more of an in-and-out kind of place. Did I mention they have stand up tanning machines? And tanning is free with your membership? It's a no-brainer! Don't forget to grab a smoothie at the gym exit from the nutrition bar that's connected to the gym!

For their memebership prices, how can you go wrong? Plus their bring a friend has been great! I started by following a friend to the gym and now I'm there 4 times a week!

It's a Nice and big gym with all the equipment you would need. Lots of squat racks and bench presses to use so you would hardly have to wait. They even have a turf section for functional training which I usually use for warm ups. The two downsides is that the equipment are old and need to be renewed (as the cushions are tearing up and the pulleys need greasing), and the dumbbells are all over the racks, making it difficult to find the ones you want. However you can't beat the price, so I would still recommend if you live close by.

Great gym! Has everything you could want- heaps of cardio equipment including stair masters, deadlift platforms, full squat racks and every isolation machine I've ever seen. Clean and lovely staff too would recommend to everyone

I want to start by saying I enjoy this gym. I've been using it for more than a year and a half now. There are a few things I wish they would change though. More mirrors would be nice. I like to check my form and sometimes I can't depending on which machine I'm on. Also, the staff is pretty lazy. They are always crowded around the front desk. It would be nice if they would spend more of their time organizing the extremely unorganized dumbbells. Also, I would really love it if they made it so we could switch out the hand grips on the machines, which is pretty standard at any other gym. I doubt it would be very difficult or costly to add that feature and it would add a lot more diversity to the workouts you could do with those machines. I've been looking into other gyms and so far I want to stay at hone but if they don't make these changes I'll probably switch.

*edit* so the owner contacted me and I appreciate that. However, I do feel like he made excuses for why he couldn't accommodate my requests (besides the lazy staff.) He said he didn't know where to put any more mirrors but there are tons of spaces I can think of. Mostly, the brick walls. Also, he said that the hand grips were getting stolen and that's why he locked them in, which is reasonable when it comes to the smaller hand grips, but I don't understand how someone could walk out with large metal ones. There are staff at the front desk and I imagine there is CCTV. I did want to talk to the owner again over the phone about this but when I tried to call back he had left. Which I understand as he does manage a few locations. I just wanted to give further feedback.

The ab machine requires you to sit on the floor and pull with all your might to adjust. That machine is a personal injury lawsuit waiting to happen.

I spend more time looking for weight discs and matching dumbbells than I do actually working out due to the lack of plates and organization on the upper floor. There are several squat/deadlift platforms and benches but most are completely barren of weights- I always have to search around the whole floor for even a basic pair of 45s. Dropsets are impossible as others will take what few discs there are off your station mid set due to the lack of weights to go around in general. Dumbells only go to 75lbs.

Great value if you stick to machines or need room for cardio based stuff but really lacking in free weight amenities due to lack of plates and always horribly disorganized dumbbells.

Great gym. High ceiling and plenty of space.
No towel service but there's alot of good equipment and alot of great workout accessories like bands/ med balls/ leber dip bars, Trx and the usual gym equipment. Multiple locations makes it very convenient to use. The price is unbeatable.

Everything is great, but the music.the music is too quiet and there is no “gym” music, just some pop and Spanish. No Adrenalin music.

Not as cheap as they advertise. Including first time membership fee, u end up spending as much as a regular gym. The free fitness session is actually a pretext for the personal trainers to upsell.

Not a bad price for what you get. Decent size, a lot of different machines. I do wish they had more equipment, but it’s understandable for the size of it.

Ive been working out there for the past year or so.all together it's a great gym. Too bad there's no sauna/ steam room.

Nice gym for girls but dumbbells only go to 75lbs which is very far from what most guys should be pressing. I think it would be an amazing gym if they increased the weight range of the dumbbells.

Where else would you pay $20 for a monthly membership to a gym that has most of the machinery you will ever use, a warm-up room, two levels - three, if you consider the massage chairs and tanning rooms -, lots of TVs and a central location. To top all that, it has a juice bar right at the entrance served by the nicest man. There's really no competitors in the city.

It is a awesome environment, I've been working out there for 3 years and the layout is always getting better.

I found some graffiti in the bathroom and a tiny door that leads to a clearing full of mean fuzzy things that bite.

The gym has two floors, first floor consisting mostly cardio machines, few weight machines, light-weights, and more. Second floor includes more weight machines, heavy weights, benches with bars, and more.
This is by far the cheapest gym membership you can get and I go here at least five days a week. However, that comes with many downsides.
It is only a gym with showers and day lockers, without a sauna, steam room, or swimming pool that you might get in other gym memberships. The owner might seem rude (on the phone while talking to you condescendingly) but I think that's the case for most gym owners. It can get really hot in the summer as there seems to be very little or no air conditioning. Some people here don't wipe their equipment after use and drop weights and there are no staff in the gym regulating this.
The cheap membership price makes up for all of these pet peeves though and would recommend to anyone looking for a cheap gym membership.

Convenient, cheap, and good machines. Its way cheaper then the competition by not giving you those perks you don't use like a sauna or steam room. Machines are in okay shape and lots to choose from.
Downsides; typically busy on Mondays and sometimes people just sit on a machine while playing on their phone, but this is the younger crowd.
An increase in posers there lately that just take over a few machines then stare at themselves in the mirror. Along with some that love to drop weights and grunt like apes. When machines break down, it's days if not a week or more before it's fixed. If people aren't camping on the machines they have a circuit going and when you try to use the machine they say they are using it. They have wipes available to wipe down the machines, but hardly anyone uses them. Overall it's ok.
