Hutch’s on the Beach

Still the best fish and chips. We moved away and hadn't been there for over 25 years. We were in the area and had to go back to Hutch's. The food didn't disappoint!

Warring! I found hair on my food and my wife got stomach issues after eating in this location, and when I asked to speak with the manager they said he’s not available and they gave me his business card and when I tried to call him he’s never there and there’s no other contact number and when I tried to send him an email the email address on his business card is invalid email address, I will not recommend them to anyone and I will leave a review as well.

We usually go for fish and chips every couple of months.
Always good.
BUT apparently Hutch's has changed ice cream supplier (from Nestles) and the new ice cream (Central Smith) is definitely poorer quality than before but at the same healthy price!
We will continue to dine there but go elsewhere for dessert until the quality of the ice cream improves.

Such an amazing old-style diner. I always get the fish and chips and it always tastes amazing!

Beautiful Fish and chips spot that's located on the beach. Nothing beats beautiful scenery while you eat on a nice day. Also can dine in as well. It's a go to for the locals.

Didn't go here, had a doordash delivery but the best fish and chips since my grandma used to take me to the beach as a 5 year old. It's just amazing food. Doordash messed up the delivery, so it was tepid, otherwise 5 stars. Next week we'll go and eat In.

I’m here now and was hoping to dine in. Drove here from the other side of Burlington as we have always loved Hutch’s. Called ahead to make sure you were open, came in just after 9pm. I was hoping to dine in as it’s cold and raining and we are literally the only people here. The sweet girl taking our order asked if we wanted it for here or to go. Another young lady (dark ponytail) interrupted our conversation saying we had to go because she just cleaned all of the tables and she wasn’t cleaning them again. Again, we are the only ones here and she is standing around at this point. Really disappointed in the way we were treated tonight.

Acceptable fish and chips. Plenty of fries however too thick and not crispy. Good portion of fish inside the batter but a little bit on the greasy side.

Gr8 location but extremely bad service.paid for large lemonade but was given medium.informed a staff member abt it n she came back with the same drink saying u paid for medium u'll get the same.i showed her the receipt n then she exchanged it but aggressively put the drink on the table.asked for ketchup n threw the sachets on the table.food was terrible too.don't order fish n chips.it was bland n very oily.

Literally the worst food ever. Greasy and disgusting. Everything is cooked in beef lard. Harry’s Pub is far better.

A Hamilton classic. The portions are big. A single, large fish and chips is probably enough for two people.

When I crave fish and chips this is where you'll find me. Best fries anywhere and I'd have to rank their customer service with 5 stars.

Greasy spoon. But in a good way…

We discovered this place completely by accident. We were on our way to confederation beach when we saw a huge line to this place. So we turned I. To investigate.

To our surprise, it was a nice classic burger joint. We stood in line for 40 minutes to put in our order. Had to wait another 15 or so minutes for our order to arrive. We then had to hunt for a table as there were limited seating in the picnic area.

Once we finally got through all that waiting, we could finally sit down to eat.

We ordered our burgers with the works. I was expecting a sloppy mess. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the packaging and the burgers were still intact. The burgers were pretty thick. The patties were well seasoned and not dripping with juices. The bread was soft but stable enough to hold the burger together including the condiments. This means you could actually eat the burger without sauce dripping all over your hands. The burgers were delectable.

We also ordered the fries and onion rings. But by the time we finished the burgers, we barely touched them. But from the few fries and onion rings we did eat, they were incredible. The fries were not soggy and did not taste bland. The fries and rings were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

Despite the wait, I would definitely eat here again.

I'm all about supporting our local eateries and businesses but I'm getting very tired of businesses asking for support during this time, and providing sub par food to the clientele making the effort! This whole pay more and take what we give you is getting old quick! Burger cold and dry, cheese not even melted, bun cold! Fries lukewarm! Food cooked earlier and Meal was just assembled! Very disappointed! Unfortunate!

A great place to bring the kids for ice cream and delicious food. Plenty of parking and easy to get to.

Amazing. Our Director department send us here and we had an amazing food by the beach. Great times, huge servings and friendly staff! If you're looking for a place which is amazing and affordable, Hutch's on the beach would be the best choice. I had Crispy chicken BLT salad and it was amazing. Im sooo full and feeling wonderful! Also, we had large fries with gravy. Amazing! Thanks to my manager for sending us here. So much fun!

Long, great history with the place. The food changes a bit through the time but it's never been bad. Wait times vary but there's a reason people come and wait that long for it.

Have loved Hutch's since I was a kid. Food is always great. Toped it off with an ice cream cone. Can't get any better than that.

Ordered large rish n chips piece of fish were big however the batter is plain with no taste no seasoning on the fish. It was very bland unless you put the fish tarter sauce on it.apart from the historical aspect of it I really don't know what all the fuss is to be honest

You have to know that you’re not coming here for a meal made by a Michelin star chef. This is a Hamilton Staple with rich history on the beach and within the city.

The food, service, and Covid protocols are some of the best in town! They do their best to serve you quickly but always remaining fresh and maintaining their quality. If you make a large order, expect to wait. Nothing seems pre-made. All prepped and cooked/grilled/fried after your order is placed.

Definitely worth that simple date with your better half or kids.

Nothing special about Hutch's Disappointed with my cheeze burger waited 30 minutes for my order, fries were OK. Staff extremely friendly.

We're on vacation so decided we'd drive down to the beach and have lunch at Hutch's. We waited quite a while to get in to order but had been expecting that. A long wait as well for the food to come out. (We dined in.) After the long wait I expected fresh hot food. My partner felt that his fish and chips had been cooked in old oil. That is the way it tasted to him any way. My cheeseburger arrived on a stale bun and the burger was cold. The fries were good but the gravy had no taste. We were just generally disappointed. We won't be back.

Fish and chips is delicious and huge! Super busy but doing their best with guidelines and they have seperate areas for food or just ice cream.

Excellent restaurant. Considering we came on a long weekend, service was good. The food was excellent - real milkshakes, tasty chicken fingers and chips, and the Hammer burger are worth it. Highly recommend

Fish fry is top of the world. It’s such a nice fast food restaurant just to enhance your beach experience. Energetic service and awesome food. If you’re in Hamilton lakeshore must have some fish-n-chips. Local gem!

HORRIBLE! Soggy greasy thick batter that was bread like in consistency, the chips were ok. It's been almost 2 years since I came here and it's gone down a few notches

Food was great but general cleanliness was a little lacking. Very dated in a shabby kind of way. Decor was vintage & great but walls are peeling & flooring was dingy & faded. Just a little paint & polish needed.

Hutchs has done an absolutely amazing job of following covid rules and getting food out. The area is clean and my fish was delic!

Great fish and chips at a good price and generous portions. I had two meals out of mine. It was a beautiful day to sit on the beach directly behind the restaurant and eat our lunch. Lots of parking too. Just nice to eat outside and watch the water after being cooped up through covid winter.

Great food but don't waste time with ordering ahead. Ordered at 515 for a 600 pickup. Now 630 been waiting half an hour and seeing people who walked in and ordered in the store getting their orders ahead of me. VERY DISAPOINTING

Great fish and chips. Really long line up as restaurant has been here forever and popular. (even have official direction sign for the restaurant) located right by the beach.

Really good fish and chips. Unfortunately sitting down to eat these days is really difficult. I suggest you order on line and pickup. The lineups can get long.

Not s good dinner tonight. Way too much batter, was mushy, fish greasy. Asked for a certain amount of condiments but had to ask 3 times to get the right amount. Lots of money spent 4 lrg fish n chips 4 orders shrimp. Blah

My wife decided on Mother's day she wanted fish and chips! We were told by multiple people, Hutches is the place! The only mistake we made was ordering the large size for each of us, wow, they pack alot in to those containers! The batter was so yummy and crispy and the fish was fantastic! We've found our new place, even though most Hamiltonian's already know about this place! We will be back!

Just awful- 40$ for 2 adult & 1 kids meal, we were so disappointed. The kids meal was so over cooked (hot dog & fries),
The poutine had bugs in it.
The fish & chips weren't cooked and the fish was so dark down indicating it was turned up to much or cooking grease was old? It was just after 9 they rushed to close for 10 & didn't care. Who would eat like this or feed their child this? Again disappointed

Their online ordering and in person pickup were flawless. And the fish and chips were great. You can still get a burger for $5 and change here. Nothing at all hipster about it. Just tasty fast food and a great beach side location. Oh! Bonus! There’s 4 x level 2 EV chargers in the parking lot!

Hutches is a staple of hamilton and has been around forever. The one at confederation park is way better than the one on James North.

This was my first time here so maybe in the past this place was actually good. The burgers were comparable to McDonald’s and the fries were terrible. The only reason they get two stars is for the milkshake. If you think McDonald’s is good than you’ll like this place, but for anyone who knows what a good burger really is don’t eat here. Bring your own food to the beach.

A favorite spot for lunch or dinner on the beach. Great views of the lake from the booths lakeside. Excellent french-fries, fish and chips, burgers and shakes.

Nostalgic decor and music, old fashion table-side Juke Boxes. Loads of local sports memorabilia adorns the walls.

Staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered fish and chips, personally not my favorite place to eat fish and chips. The restaurant is clean with a decent amount of seats to eat. The best part is you can go for a nice walk on the beach after.

I am very picky when it comes to fish and chips and it was actually the best fish I have had in this area for a long time. The fries were awesome, nothing was greasy and way more then I could eat for 15$ which isn't bad for fish these days. I can't wait to go again and try more things from the menu.

Nice view of the lake but the wait times in the summer months can be up too an hour. Still they have beyond meat burgers as well as fish and chips which is good for vegan and non a like

Horrible.will not be back, the fish was beyond greasy, and cold fries. This place gets worse each time we've been. Try to go a couple times a year until now.

The food was great the view was really amazing alot going on here the kids and the dog loved it people were out on the water wake boarding and it was very entertaining prices were amazing and so was the restaurant and ice cream shop wonderful lunch

It was too busy we're never got to eat there. Actually upset me. Because I have eaten there as kid and I remembered how good it was back then, and was excited to eat there again. It had been since I was 17.let's just says it's been almost 33yrs since then.

This place is literally on a lake and not a beach. There is nothing beachy about it, and it is overpriced and packed and I'm not sure why. It always has a lineup to purchase it's overpriced food.

Haven't been here in a while but not much has changed, a good thing in this case. Burgers, fries, hot dogs and the like served up quick (although it can get super busy here on a hot summer night) in an old school diner setting complete with milkshakes and a juke box! My double cheeseburger and fries with a bottle of cotton candy Pop Shop blue pop was about $13, definitely a better fill than I'd get at most fast food restaurants. Nice and tidy, staff are polite and you can sit right out on the lake just behind the restaurant if you don't feel like eating inside.

We always head to the beach in front of Hutch's, so we can easily access their ice cream. It was jam packed this weekend because of the hot weather. We love that the ice cream is served at a different window, so it makes it quicker to get.

They always have their old ice cream tubs out, so families can borrow them to play with on the beach. My kids fill them up and dump them out for hours. Great spot.

Good food, the hot dogs are smaller than expected, there is sometimes a wait time but it's not that bad around 7: 00. Overall, I'd go back, the food is great and so is the location.

The amount of serving is good they do serve a lot the big fish is actually two serving the home fries are good although the fish batter was still raw and the fish has no flavor, the home fries are good. Sat outside the view is nice

The location is amazing as it's right on the beach and pays hommage to Hamilton's historic landmarks. Had the fish and chips which were as expected and tasted good. Service was fast and polite. Things were clean and well kept.

My 7 and 4 yr old grandsons know that Hutches on the beach is a great place to.have ice cream
They were a little put off that the table connection to the jukebox was out of order but they did enjoy their food

We went on a weekday at noon. It was packed and you had to struggle for seats. We just had takeout. The fries are great, but the hamburgers are somewhat average.

Fish is good. Fries are the worst ever. Just get fish. Stay away from fries. Reasonably clean. Always very busy. Be prepared to wait up to an hour for food/table.

I’ll start off with the pros: Location is great and the fries ain’t too bad. The cons: Be prepared to wait more than 45 minutes for a room temperature cheeseburger which wouldn’t stand a chance against a McDonald’s cheeseburger. And I dislike McDonald’s. Staff appear like they hate their life. Typically I’d go out of my way to support a family owned restaurant, but this place doesn’t feel like one. Quality of food and hospitality needs work.

Great retro vibe! Food is simple and tasty. Please be aware that all fried items are cooked in beef tallow - not vegetable oil. Portions tend to be large so plan accordingly. It can be very busy but is worth the wait. Amazing selection of ice cream too. Separate order counters for food and ice cream. I loved getting a Pop Shoppe soda with my order.

Fun place on the beach specializing in fish and chips and burgers. The place was crowded probably because we were there during the last week before the kids have to go back to school. You line up and give your order and when it's ready, you pick it up at the counter. Took a while to get a table inside but lots of picnic tables outside.

Thinnest Hamburger patty I have ever had. They forgot to punch in part of our order. Tiny Flys all over us while we ate. Not a great experience. It was conveniently located on the Beach which was nice. Not a Place I would go back to.
