JmonkS Fish and Chips

Tried this place out and was presently surprised the prices are much better then our usual place we go to and the food was cooked to order and there wasn’t a long wait time and it was just the right amount of food. We will definitely be back

The haddock was beautifully cooked, with a light crispy batter. Tartar sauce was delicious. The owner was very friendly and accommodating.

Went there recently to order takeout for 4 adults and 2 kids. We got 6 pieces of haddock and fries. The fish was very good! Cooked through and flaky. The batter was light and crispy, not greasy and HUGE pieces of fish! The fries are great also! Seasoned and crispy! Usually with fish & chip places the fries pale in comparison to the fish, but not the case here! I found both very good! The new owners kept the name the same, and still have friendly faces! They've also one upped the fries and the hours! Well done on a win-win!

I have been coming here since it was Mr Chips and his Fish. Many years, various owners. I placed my first order with new owners couple days ago and was thrilled! 4 pc Haddock, fries, coleslaw, gravy. Fish was good portion, fresh, perfectly cooked, lots of fries, coleslaw and tarter sauce homemade and very delicious. Packaging was perfection, was not greasy. New owner is wonderful great customer service. Can't wait to try new things on menu. Great job, I will be back and recommend

We tried JmonkS a couple weeks ago for the first time, and I was splendidly surprised by the quality and portion size of the fish and chips here. We ordered some haddock and chips to go, and had a little miscommunication when we put in our order, but the staff here are really friendly, kind, and happy to accommodate you. The vibe in that small shop is awesome. Lot's of good energy with really friendly, kind, fun-loving people. The haddock and chips were great. It's the only other place than Chip+Malt all the way in Newmarket that actually provides a substantial piece of fish. It was a thick, well cooked piece of haddock I had, and the first half of it was perfect. Crispy, not too oily, and no doughy kind of texture. The back quarter was a bit of a different story. Seemed that the batter near the back needed some extra time as it was a touch doughy/had sort of an undercooked batter thing going on, but don't let that deter you. For the price they charge for the portion size, I could've cut that whole section off and still would have been really pleased with this order of fish and chips.

Really great food! Delish! But hard to catch them when they are “actually” opened. Which can be a downer as the hours say open but end up being closed.

I love love love this place, normally I’d give it a 5/5 but I’m pretty positive they have gotten new owners, I think the 3rd since the originals owners and find that it is never open. I find it strange that they were no longer available for lunch as they used to be a popular lunch spot when I was in highschool over a decade ago and for seniors. I find them closed at random points during the days and times throughout the week. The hours have been changed but still never open when it says and I find it strange that they were closed for Good Friday when that is another popular holiday because of a lot of people avoiding meat and eating fish on fridays. Maybe once the hours get established and figured out it’ll go back to being awesome food and service but so far it has been so hard to catch them when their open. Love their spicy chicken burgers and popcorn shrimp… hoping things get back to normal again so I can give them business!

I've been coming here for almost 20 years now. The best fish and chips and value in town.

Excellent as always, generous portions, piping hot and cooked just right. Love this place!

Fresh Haddock fish it takes a while but cooked to profession, there service after you pay will bring the food to your car when done.
