Owner of this restaurant is very rude and ignorant to customers. Forcing them to leave and embarrasses individuals at their table about what they ordered or did not order. I would never spend a dime in this restaurant again. Owner has very poor customer service skills!

My husband and I love the food and friendly staff here. They always have fast service even though we dine out and are willing to tweek any food requests we have (my husband likes his home fries extra crispy). Always greeted with a smile. Great family place.

First and last time ordering there!
Ordered through Skip. I am about a 3 min drive from the restaurant.
Paid $30 for a chicken caesar salad with extra chicken (which had what I normally get at any other restaurant) wouldn't want to see what it would have been without extra chicken. Ordered chicken fingers and fries with gravy on the side. That was cold and didn't get the gravy that I ordered on the side.
Called the restaurant to let them know how disappointing everything was and got absolutely nowhere with them. No offer to replace the food or refund me.
How do you get cold food when you live so close and how can a chicken caesar salad cost $30 for mostly lettuce?
Well I have tried them. Learned my lesson. Will not order from there again.

They don't care about delivery orders. Always cold and missing something. I called the restaurant to let them know about missing item and cold food only to have it treated as if who cares. Never again. It's a shame they used to be great.
Food isn't that good anymore.

Food is great, atmosphere is great, owner is great, service could be nicer in the morning. After my hairdresser paid for me and my partner to have a date here, I've been bringing in friends and family every couple weeks to enjoy the food and Johnny's. We had one woman as our waitress the first couple times, I believe she's the owner and she's wonderful. Kind and appropriately energetic. However, the last 2 times I've come in, we've gotten a woman named Bonnie. She's polite to an extent. Sometimes it seems like she doesn't want to be there and today she wasnt very nice. I ordered pancakes beside my breakfast and she specified it would be 4.75. I asked for chocolate chip pancakes, nothing was said. I get the bill, it says 5.75. I know that's just a dollar extra, but I ask about it cause that's not what was advertised. She points to the number 3, which shows 2 chocolate chip pancakes for 14.25, still not what was advertised. No where does it say chocolate costs extra or that it's 5.75. I'm not upset about the price, I'm upset that it wasn't clearly advertised. She refused to budge so I just paid it but I felt tricked. The other woman definitely would've been clear and communicate, Bonnie just didn't seem to care. It's disappointing. I hope someone has a talk with her.
Other than that, this place has been great to me and my friends. Never have I been disappointed by the food. Just make sure you ask the right questions if you don't want your bill to be raised like mine was.

Edit: Apparently the woman I complained about views this as a "nasty review" and they no longer serve chocolate chip pancakes? This review wasn't about the pancakes, the pancakes were great. The one criticism in this 4 star review was about HER behavior. That's what needs to change, not the menu? I just wanted prices to be clearer lmao

I love this restaurant. The food and service was good. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. It was like eating at home. It wasn't fancy, just homestyle. The prices are reasonable.

Naz and his staff are second to none. Their food quality and staff are excellent and we dine there 1-2 times per week for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Thanks for all the delicious meals you have served us.

Received a warm welcome from the owner and enjoyed a great lunch with my son there. A great diner for a good meal at a reasonable price - so much better than fast food

We were looking for a cheap breakfast special in the Oshawa area. So I Googled cheap breakfast specials and stumbled across this place. The restaurant opened at 9am. We were one of the first customers to come in. There was a strong scent of cigarette smoke in the restaurant. Not a great start.

We ordered the breakfast special 3 eggs with homefries and texas toast for $3.99. If you want to add meat, you will need to ante up another $4.50 for 4 strips of bacon, ham, or 2 oven baked sausages. $5.50 for peameal bacon. From a value perspective, the breakfast special is a killer deal if you don't add meat.
We got the bacon and sausage for our upgrades. The coffee is $3 with free refills. The coffee was freshly brewed and not watered down.

The eggs were cooked perfectly, mine sunny side up, and wife had overeasy. The home fries were crispy and not oily. The ketchup looked kind of old as the colour was dark red. The bacon strips were gigantic and crispy. The sausages were a bit overcooked and dry. I would probably stick with the bacon next time.

Overall, if you are looking for a cheap breakfast special, then you should definitely give them a try. Just know that once you upgrade and add a coffee you're looking at $15 per person with tax and tip.

My partner and myself have been twice now. Our first experience was just as lovely as our second. The coffee is delicious, the food is as well. Its not too salty, not at all greasy & absolutely delicious. Both times we left fully satisfied. The pricing is also a major bonus! The breakfast special is delicious & affordable even with an added side of bacon. The remainder of the menu also sounds delicious, is affordable & will leave you wanting to come back just to try everything.
Staff are extremely friendly & professional.
The atmosphere is very homey & comfortable. Even the location is super accessible!

Bland and extremely overpriced for the smallest portion sizes. $50 and we left still hungry.

I've been working in the restaurant industry for 20+ yrs, and I understand the current economy and its affect on the price on supplies. But this was a ridiculous price for what we got from a diner breakfast.

Good fresh diner food, super nice staff, good prices- highly recommend for a good place to fill your stomach and not empty your wallet!

Nice little spot, good value for the dollar, had the special of the day, had enough to take home for dinner the next night, food was very good

May family has been going here for years. A great little place for breakfast or lunch for us. Highly, highly recommended.:)

The decor is a little dated. If you care about such things. The food, service and prices are all excellent.:)

We used to be regulars here, all through the Pandemic. Then I overheard a waitress telling a customer not to order the bacon. She literally leaned over and whispered something to him about why. I paid my bill and never went back. So yeah, the food was good. But never order the bacon.for.reasons. Unknowable and awful reasons.

Good ole comfort food and breakfast, good price, not dirty but not updated at all. Looks like the same as 20 yrs ago.

I'll start with two prefaces, one I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews and two they took a call order before taking mine even though I was there first.

Everyone was really nice and kind. I ordered the meatloaf special with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, veggies and a warm bun with coffee.

I recieved the dish after a bit of a wait. It was presented well and looked good.

But the meatloaf was cold in the center so I had to ask them to warm it up. The waitress said she'll "get them to microwave it again".

It came back hot, which is good. The overall flavor was not the best, the gravy had a off taste, the meatloaf was okay and the mashed potatoes were bland.

The veggies were definitely frozen and not cooked well, they were not soft at all and were also bland.

The bun was a simple warm bun served with butter, it was good.

The coffee was ok but my refill instead of warming it back up made it a little cooler.

Price wise at just under $11 for the meatloaf it was good value, but I'd pay more for better food. The $3 coffee was ok.

So overall the food was not very good, but the people were lovely and the diner has charm.

Maybe this was an off night but I don't think I'll go back. Too many other diners in Oshawa that have really good food.

Food was excellent and all made fresh.portions are large and staff is great. Been going here since I was young and love to eat here when I'm in the area. Its older, but tried and true <3

The area is a bit closed in and plays into the actual atmosphere. The waitresses will always ask you for a top up. Friendly and smiling. The food is extremely good. The portions for cod may be the best in value. Two medium size cod. Halibut is available as well. You don't have to look for a special. That's it the regular price. If I owned this place I'd extend the building into a corner for at least a third more of the extra room. That way customers feel more comfortable. Unless you can move the kitchen area further north. Use it an the cash area for extra floor space. The sign can use a bit of brightening up. Black and red. Difficult to see and read. From a distance.
