First I want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to eat the best fish and chips. Original authentic and tradition meet. It's worth eating here.
Tasty, good-sized portions, fish not overly battered, not too greasy, thick-cut fries, and squeeze bottles of tartar sauce! Friendly and quick service.
Absolutely amazing their halibut meal is perfectly priced. The portion size is fulfilling, quality of food is great and who doesnt love fish scraps on your fries/side. My favorite place for fish n chips cravings.
Went here after my plans fell through on my day off today as I live in the neighborhood must say was not disappointed I haven't had it since not sure but it's been yrs waa a good choice
When you fresh fish well prepared you come to Len Duckworth's. You'll be glad you did. I had the Halibut and chips. Great never frozen fish in a light breading. And chipped potatoes done by hand there. A wonderful treat.
Staff was 5 star very friendly and efficient food was average 5 out of 10 the worst part of my experience was going to the washroom and going past the kitchen it smelt like something was rotting it was a total turn off and it was not the smell of fresh fish something is wrong there i will not recommend this place and will not return
Pricey, decent food but no portion size options. Good but doesn't stand out. The presentation was poor, plates were small, and pop was canned. If it's convenient go for it but don't go out of your way for it.
I want to give this place a higher rating because the folks working here seem really nice BUT, the food was average at best.
I had the halibut with chips and shrimp. While there is nothing "wrong" with the food, it is nothing special. I think the batter of the fish and the shrimp lack seasoning. I really did not even taste any salt in there. Very bland to say the least. The chips could also use some work. Not crispy at all, just "okay". The portion size is good however but the halibut was also a bit dry. Overall 3/5 but definitely not the best in the city.
I've been to England and tried fish and chips in a few different places. My favorites were a small restaurant in Stratford as well as Brighton Pier. I have to say out of places I have tried since my trip this has got to be the most similar to what I remembered from those two places.
It wasn't overly greasy the fish was fresh and light tasting perfectly cooked. The fries were also extremely fresh. Everything arrived hot and packaged perfectly.
Great Service - the young gentleman serving us was awesome, do accommodating. He will go far in the service industry. The food was very good but the fish seemed thin and too much better. Glad your open for table service again.
Salt and pepper should be add to the food. I'm not say there shouldn't be any other seasoning but that would be a start. I can't believe that this an restaurant y'all need seasoning taste. Pray that I don't get the runs. Ya'll need some help.
I did rate the restaurant as a 5 star a year ago, but today I got the seafood platter and they were so mindless. They shoved all of it into one cardboard/paper container. I opened it at home within half an hour and everything was stuck together and very mushy. I like my coating crispy. My advice to the cooks at Duckworth. 's. You do a great job cooking, but please put the chips in a separate container from the seafood. Maybe this will help from all the steam making everything so soggy although reheating in a 350° oven will crisp it up.
Great service. Great taste. I don’t like tons of chips so to offer half order of chips with their fresh tasting fish is awesome. Also better on the budget compared to other fish and chip places who charges for full box of chips and smaller piece of fish.
Had the halibut fish and chips and it was delicious very hearty serving of chips / fries and the fish was perfectly breaded with a light and flavourful batter. I did wish the chips were a bit more "crunchy" but I think it's just the style that I prefer. Either way, I can't wait to come back here to try other things!
The halibut here is amazing. I started off with one piece of halibut and went back in and bought halibut and haddock. Both were delicious. The lady told me the halibut is cut fresh every day and the haddock comes in frozen. I live about thirty minutes from this place but am planning in going back very soon. The prices are very reasonable for the size of the fish. The man gave me a few fries when I went back in. I am not much of a potatoe eater but they did tase good.
Great food, tastes very authentic British. Price is fair too. Don't order late on a Friday or you'll be waiting a while as this is a very popular place
Hmm.so during covid this place decides that if you want to put an order in, then you have to walk into the store and wait 15-25 mins to order food and wait for it? Sounds a little ridiculous when even in normal times, you can call into an establishment, put an order in on the phone, walk into the store, pay for it and pick it up and go. Instead.they want you to wait.during covid? !? !? Also, note the other recent comments about cleanliness and not wearing masks. DURING COVID!
Placed an order at 4: 30pm it is now 5: 45pm and they decided to cancel my order. Never will I try ordering from them again. A waste of time! What a joke. I'll get my fish and chips else where.
2 ORDERS OF FISH AND CHIPS MY BOYFRIEND AND I ENJOYED THEM VERY MUCH AND THE STAFF IS VERY NICE AND POLITE AND THE DRIVER AS WELL THANK YOU LOOKING TOWARDS ORDENING FROM YOU REAL SOON TAKE CARE.
Last minute craving. Just me. Car picnic. Order from out front & pick up in <ten minutes. Drive to the sunny beach. Seven perfect, lightly battered, crispy, fresh, flavourful shrimp & 7 yummy surprise fries, slipped in the box. Whether it’s a secret solo picnic or halibut and chips for the family, Duckworth’s on the Danforth is the best. And the coleslaw.
Ordered the Combo Special & Seafood Special via Ritual. The shrimp and scallops were nice. As was the coleslaw. Price was right too. They indicated that it was ready for pickup via Ritual, it was not and had to wait, which is not a big deal except COVID. The fries were underdone, which is not a big deal except they do thick cut British style so it was too starchy. Both my wife and I were convinced that the halibut we shared was either incredibly tough or not even halibut at all. Lastly, and the real kicker that will prevent us from coming back is the fact that what looked like the owner was completely maskless. I assume he's the owner because he was sitting down on the side calling out orders while the rest of the team were cooking and prepping. No mask, no more business. Sorry dude, these days you got to be safe and follow the rules.
I've been eating Duckworth since I was 8 years old so for 50 years now and it is good except it's so greasy you could ring it out. The fish and chips at the halibut house and everything else on the menus outstanding and grease free and way cheaper
