Best Fish and Chips in the West end by far! Portions are healthy and reasonably priced. Creamy coleslaw is my favourite.

The food is really good. Just a bit pricy but I guess that goes along with the time. Not really their fault. Fish is nice and crispy and the coleslaw is amazing. I have been going there for years. Always been satisfied.

Fish tasted bad and the breading was too thick and greasy! The portion of the fish was SMALL! Greedy restaurant owner! Very bad experience! Never come back! Strongly suggest the others not to waste money at this bad restaurant!

It's good ol' fashion fish and chips baby; the batter is fantastic and the portion sizes are decent. Great people too, very friendly. Highly recommend the Halibut and Shrimps.

Fish was tasteless and in too much batter. Honestly as someone born and raised in the west indies, the fish was most horrible I ever tasted in my 35 years of life, it never even had salt on it. Horrible horrible tasting fish, they need to get a chef that can use seasoning.

My family brought me here today for Father's day lunch. They know I love fish and chips because of my British ancestry. They too enjoy fish and chips. We have been here before over the years and are never disappointed with our meals or service. I highly recommend anyone who us curious about this place to give it a try. We shall return. Came here for the first time on Father’s Day for a bite to eat Around 4PM! The service was incredible and the waitress is super kind and attentive. The food was delicious and got to us quickly! Definitely will be back, so happy to have found a fish and chips place so good near Toronto!

Truly the experience I had expected from a fish and chips joint: fresh halibut and haddock. Our server was a cheerful lady and extremely accommodating of our requirements - a very cozy place a quick and yummy meal. Definitely going back!
One small rue: our order bill was a bit of mess and we were overcharged. But I took it back to our server and she refunded the overcharge. But I am still not sure we paid for what we ate since the bill had a different order.
Regardless, the food was too good to not go back. Will definitely go back!

The worst. Orderd $ 50.00 in fish and chips. Fish so greasy my fingers have oil on them. The fries are thick but burnt, onion rings not cooked, NO tarter sauce, NO lemon slice, NO napkins. Please be careful when ordering from this restaurant. This was my first time ordering from them. WILL NEVER GO BACK Rating -0 -0

Site says open good Friday but all of the delivery places say its closed and no one is answering the phone. Way to ruin our good Friday mcnies

Coleslaw is bomb best ever but the haddock and fries were soggy and my haddock just fell apart no breading on the bottom that was on top of fries need to do something about the grease to much came here 2 weeks ago everything was proper so I guess today was just a bad day

We live in Milton & every time we go to Etobicoke we always stop here for fish & chips. The waitress has been there a very long time & is the best we ever had, food is perfect I love it love it love it

This place is trash, a shadow of its former self. They'll nickel and dime you too, condiments cost extra on delivery orders. Do yourself a favor and take your hard earned money elsewhere.

Best fish n’ chips place we’ve ever ordered from! They literally have the best Halibut fish we’ve ever had by far. We always order here for Good Friday, it’s become our yearly Easter tradition. Thank you for all the wonderful fish over the years. You guys are awesome and the food is exceptional.

Ridiculous. Placed order yesterday for pickup today and noone knows where the order is nor do they particularily seem to care. Had to order elsewhere

Mixed experiences here. Place is kind of dated. Feel like your walking into a retirement home when ordering here. Food is ok at best.

3 stars for the service, 5 stars for the food. Uber Eats and Skip The Dishes drivers take priority over a standing paying customer waiting to pick up their food. No eye contact, no hello until the nice lady that was looking after the dine-in customers came over to ask if I had been helped. I'm disappointed that not even an apology or thank you was mentioned, not the first time either. I'll still get my fish and chips from McNie's and hoping for a better servixe experience the next time.

Chips were half cooked and the fish portions were small. The fish and chips were over priced and they charge extra for packets of vinegar and tartar sauce. Such a disappointment

Portion and quality was good, unfortunately there was too much batter and the oil for the fries made it too greasy to enjoy.
Otherwise I'm sure it would have been more enjoyable.

Great food and great service. This olace has been around 50 years and stilll serves the best fish and chips. The new renovations also add some nice looks inside. Great place for families.

Great local spot that's been here for years and will continue serving the community with delicious food and great service. No matter where i move this will be my fish and chips spot!

People talk about how this place is under some kind of new ownership. Other people talk about how the batter they use is too greasy. Compared to other top fish and chips places, this place takes the cake. Perfect halibut, perfect crunch. Thick filets. Excellent fries and gravy. Outstanding scallops. Great coleslaw. Take it from someone who went on a fish and chips expedition in London England, and in Manchester England just last year 2020 before the pandemic in February. Mcnies is outstanding. I did not give the credit to this place that they deserved until recently. They are fantastic! Even in Toronto, I like them better than Old York on Laird, or Kingsway in Etobicoke.

Terrible experience ever. Worst food. We had calamari and lemon butter salmon with chips. Poor quality fries used. And no social distancing inside the restaurant. 6 to 7 people were working in a congested area.

The fish has more batter than actual fish. You have to ask for staple condiments, and don’t even offer napkins. It was ok.

The onion rings are a real treat. The food is homemade and very authentic.

For a busy like Good Friday service was surprisingly fast! The fish and chips were good and portions were for the family pack. The clam chowder was also tasty! Will definitely return again.

A ton of seafood options on top of the classic fish and chips. Although a little pricey the portions are huge. Service is quick and food is served hot.

This place use to be my favorite but now the owners changed the quality and the halibut is so small that I won't be coming back.

I really wanted to like this place but it was way below expectations: (The halibut was very fresh, but the problem was the batter. The batter had a light outer crisp, but it was fluffy and foamy inside - NOT crispy like a true fish & chip. The oil was not hot enough to crisp up the coating and instead it steams the inside. The fries were soggy and lacked flavour. Lastly, for a $50 lunch for two (3 pieces of halibut, 1 order chips) I would have expected it to be delicious!

Really delicious fish and chips! My husband and I like to come here occasionally to get some food and we are never disappointed.

Stay away. The service used to be great at this establishment now it is beyond poor, without the people waiting the tables.

They don't give any Cutlery, napkins, and want to charge you extra for one packet of ketchup.

They will try to package 15 items inside of one bag.

The fish was horrible. The fish had black pieces in it and was hard. It wasn't very crispy. The fries were better but not tasteful. Never going here again. Not worth it. You can get way better fish and chips else where.

Got the family meal deal for 4 people. Everything was delicious! We got an extra order of fries fearing one order wouldn't be enough, we were very wrong. Its a perfect amount for 4 as is. Fair price and made fresh! This is a great pick!

This unbelievable place was introduced to me a few months ago!
Jr and I enjoyed the crispy batter on our Halibut the real deal and chips that were perfectly done!

I would normally rate McNie's high but not this visit. This is the first time we have been since COVID and made the mistake of bringing my 79 yr old father with me.
When we walked in, the order taker had his mask below his nose and so did the waitress. I asked him to please pull his mask up and the look I got was as if I'd asked him to do something improper.
He was serving food as well as taking orders. Not safe.
The waitress was lovely and when I asked her to do the same, she did but it kept slipping down. Again, not safe.
I also saw the credit card machine being passed from table to table without being sanitized.
Our whole dining experience was uncomfortable and stressful. Although I love your fish and chips, I won't be back again until safe to do so. Especially with an elderly guest.
Come on McNie's, please do better! You have an older clientele and are loved by so many.

Ordered through Skip the Dishes and had nothing but problems. When I placed my order, their menu said everything was in stock. After placing my order, I received a rude call from someone who worked there saying one of my items was out of stock. He said that I could place a second order through Skip the Dishes but there was no changing the first order I placed. I contacted Skip the Dishes and had no support resolving this issue. The restaurant proceeded to make the food, knowing we asked them and Skip the Dishes customer service multiple times to cancel the order. If you are looking for issues, then order here through Skip the Dishes, otherwise order from another restaurant.

Wow. I've been looking for a good fish n chips for sometime now. McNies blew me away. The chips were golden thick square cut the perfect structure for salt and vinegar
Their mushy peas tasted great and the crispy lightly golden batter wrapping the delicious fish was top notch. Hands down the best fish n chips I've had in the west end of Toronto. Reminded me of home (England) maybe even a little better. Great job Mcnies keep it up, you reignited my fish n chip joy

Ordered the halibut and chips. Best piece of halibut from a fish & chips place - meaty and nicely breaded. The fries were good too although not as abundant as some other places.

Best Fish n Chips i've had in Canada (and this is coming from a brit). Halibut half plate is our go-to. Crispy light batter, fresh chips, tasty coleslaw and I always get the mushy peas. Top it off with a good ol' iron bru. Plenty of seating, super friendly staff.

Last two orders the fish was very oily.fries were made up 2/3 fries and 1/3 crumbled pieces. Onion rings were all broken. Care does not seem to be taken anymore when cooking and packing the food.

I asked for some lemons, they told me that they don't give out lemons for take out. Only for dine in, the owner told me that they charge a (higher) different price for dine in.

We will not be ordering take out again and unsure if we'll be back when dine in service opens. A shame really.

Our 1st order with them (via UberEats) was fantastic. It arrived timely and hot. Very well wrapped to keep it warm & prevent accidents.no muss or fuss and most of it was clean enough to recycle.

Great fries. Meaty fish that tasted wonderful. Clean oil was apparent in the color and flavor of the food - fries didn't taste fishy like sometimes happens at other places. The *only* complaint I have is the lack of a lemon slice.and that's mostly because I wanted one with my Jameson & coke:)

Friendly waitresses and servers (prior to the lockdown) serving generous portions of fish and chips.

Awesome service great food and atmosphere. Reasonable prices for the size of portions. Go hungry! Will be back
