New Toronto Fish & Chips

Super old spot on the inside. Almost to the point that you'd question the food. But surprisingly the food is great. The Halibut and gravy are fire. Love the typical chips. The disappointment is in the tartar sauce - packaged pre made in little rectangular plastic packages. I would have excepted at least house made. Very friendly service though.

Such a cute little place! Food was amazing, $9.95 for haddock and chips and coleslaw.no bells and whistles, just good fish and chips.our service was lovely, tables were clean and both my husband and i loved our food

The price of fish and chips is actually $IXTEEN DOLLAR$ not the $8 claimed by delusional (?) customers. Fries unevenly cooked and terrible. Onion rings so overcooked that only a small thread of onion inside. Might be good for to a person who enjoys an extreme amount of grease.

I have been coming here since I was a little girl, haddock and chips are great, try the coleslaw! Very reasonably priced.

Typical old fashioned mom and pop fish and chips shop. Forget about the decor and revel in the delish fish. And chips. They serve perfect halibut at cod prices and my favourite, cod at unheard of prices. Free coleslaw is mayo free and fantastic. Greek style onion rings are the best deal in town and soooo good. Give this place one try, you can't lose and you'll love it.trust me.

This place is a local gem still serving up that authentic fish and chips wrapped in paper. My family wants to go here everytime they come down for a visit for obvious reasons.

Halibut was good, not the best I've had, chips were not that crispy/fresh, coleslaw was good. Overall good food and friendly service

The service was very fast and delivery of the food came very fast. More dine and leave, having said that the fish and chips were delicious.

Best old school fish and chips in the west end. Don't bother going to the kingsway fish and chips. This place is way better and less money. Larger portions too.

This is a spectacular secret of mine with clean deep fryers and great coleslaw and meal portions so I'm telling you nothing about. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. IT'S MINE, ALL MINE!

Looking for good fish and chips, this place delivers just that. Reasonably priced and well-battered fish. I would always go for the fish and rings, the onion rings here are that good. Make sure you get the onion rings once you are here. I recommend taking out than dining in and ordering ahead since it can often get busy.

Edit: In the last couple of times I have found the amount of oil the fish and onion rings retains is too much for my personal preference.

Went here a couple of times in 2018.3 years and countless fish and chips places tried later, they’re still my favorite spot!

2 1/2 stars, Drove a little extra distance and was hoping for better but disappointed - not awful but not that great. Maybe an off night. Fries under cooked, vinegar coleslaw was okay but brownish colour. However the fish tasted fresh and was cooked well enough. Batter a little heavy and a tad greasy, but oil they use is still fresh. Decent value but likely won't be back.

First thing's first, the price is fantastic. $7.99 for fish and chips is unheard of in this day and age. Unfortunately that's the best part. All the food is battered and fried in front of you, and you help yourself to sauces and napkins. It's very much a no frills fish and chip, which I appreciate.

The fish is nothing special, I've had haddock, cod, and halibut here.think of an old diner fried fish and that's what you have here. It's passable. The chips are really disappointing though. They only fry their potatoes once so there is no crisp.that being said, you can get some gravy on the side and that is some of the beefiest liquid you'll ever taste-highly recommended.

Also consider trying the onion rings. Sometimes the batter is light and it just turns out fantastic. Sometimes it's very very greasy and terrible. In my experience it's usually pretty good.

I got 2 orders of the halibut and chips. There was a much bigger piece of fish in one of the orders but tasted decent. The chips were awful though, they didn't taste fresh even though I watched him make them right in front of me. Overall disappointing, I won't be returning.

Awesome 70 year old diner ran by nefew of the original owner! Food was amazing! Service is friendly. I am going back as often as I can. It is like the diners that I remember from my childhood

I constantly come by purchasing some food in here. I enjoyed the prompt service and well made food. Fantastic work.

Place is still the same after all these years which is great. The young guy serving the tables was very polite. Tea and coffee is only 1.10, please get mugs So you can get rid of Styrofoam.

The decor hasn't changed in decades which gives a rustic feel without being retro. The fish, though.fantastic cuts, tender, and cooked virtually the same since forever. Don't want to leave out the fries, real potato and not overcooked - great tasting.

I have been going to New Toronto's Fish and Chips for as long as I can remember although my family refers to it as "fifth streets". We are constantly comparing any fish we eat to New Toronto's. Nothing has ever compared ever! Great food and great customer service!

I’ve been going to this restaurant on and off since I was a kid. Tonight’s dinner my son Replied “this fish and chips is better than what we have when we go to England! ” Speaks for itself. Great food. Fantastic price!

Did a take out of the halibut and chips. There is a bit of a discount if you get the special, which is 2 orders of the halibut. Served with good old fashioned fries and wrapped up to go like the good old days.

The quality of the fish and chips all stems from the batter for the fish and the crunchiness of the chips (fries). They met those expectations. Plus I enjoyed the vinegar/oil-based coleslaw, the gravy was groovy, and the service was friendly and excellent.

Based on the dated decor, it’s from a time when South Etobicoke had a more grittier, blue collar history. I hope they don’t make any changes to this place as it has a certain character a renovation doesn’t offer.

Best Fish and Chips on the Lakeshore. This is a family run restaurant and has been there for over 40 years that I now of. Everything is fresh and the chips are nice and crunchy. They also have one of the best gravy around. Small out dated looking place, but great food!

The service was decent however not overly impressed.the fish was on the small side being very thin and over cooked.the chips were nothing to write home about and I ordered bread and butter but instead of the butter being spread over the bread they Had a big pat of butter in between 2 slices.so in my honest opinion.this place needs some serious improvement on quality! Not worth the 30 dollars spent! Fresco in Kensington is so far the best in my opinion!

We ordered haddock fish and chips and confirmed it twice yet we received halibut fish, though they helped me replace the order but the wait was long, also the onion rings that we ordered were very oily. Overall it's a regular fish and chips place, for casual times.

A decent chippie for those in need of a fried carbo fix. The restaurant is a bit dated in its decor but don't let that stop you from heading in and placing and order with the family that run the joint. They're friendly and obviously take pleasure in putting out good food for the neighbourhood.

They know how to make some tasty fish & chips, for sure.

One of a kind! Worth the wait.

So if u have any meat on your bones. You will need your food for take out. Need to update this place. Also no space or access for handicapped.
