This soup cost just over $8. Chicken gumbo. I needed 6 regular size spoons to finish it. I love the establishment but something ain’t right anymore. We can blame the government (which I do) but let’s be real here someone is taking advantage of customers.
Cozy fish and chips pub with British vibes. Easily top 2 fish and chips in Toronto for sure. I don't ever see cod cheeks back in Bay Area so that was an easy pick for me. I found the cod cheeks tasted better, but the cod was fried better. Both were good so can't really go wrong. I also opted for the poutine substitution as well. Topped it off with their homemade apple crisp and homemade key lime pie. They asked if we wanted vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Which was interesting haha. Anyway, can't go wrong with either of those two as well. Definitely coming back.
Nice atmosphere and fast service. I came to Toronto on vacation and my uncles took me. We ate squid and cod with potatoes and they were very tasty. The prices are normal and the staff is smiling.
I was there again today Dec. 29th 2023, with my two siblings. Food was excellent as before. Service was very good also. Place was packed. I was happy to see business has picked up again. Keep up the good work.
I would like to bring my Husband, but I don't believe there is a ramp for a walker?
Simply an iconic place where you just cannot go wrong. This is as good as it gets! Believe me on this one. My #1 go to place for real cut potatoes and fish. Enjoy with all your family and friends. Great value!
First time trying this place and had the Halibut. It was the best fish and chips I've had in Toronto. The batter was light and crispy and the fish was very fresh. The coleslaw was also very good - some creaminess but not too creamy. I would have ordered more if I had known beforehand how good it was. Will definitely be coming back to try the other menu items.
I had not been here in a few years. It was, as always, fabulous. The food was top notch. Best fish and chips, and any other fish, in Toronto. They prepared my cousin fish she could safely eat, that was not on the menu. The staff are so polite. When they heard it was my birthday, they all came and sang Happy Birthday when they brought dessert. They let us stay until after they were closing. When the bill came, they didn't charge for my dessert. I could not have had a better time, anywhere else
That was an excellent meal! The chowder was great. The clam strips are fantastic, paired with a tasty seafood sauce. The cod was perfectly done, crispy on the outside. Tender, moist and flaky on the inside. Yummy tartar sauce. The chips were just right. Nothing at all oily or greasy on the plate. Save room for dessert if you can - the key lime pie was tart and not too sweet. The service was friendly and attentive but not cloying. I tried their Olde Yorke, a dark beer that paired really well with lunch. Great pub atmosphere. Note - they do not take reservations.
Hands down one of the best fish and chips places in Toronto. We have never been disappointed with a meal here. Would highly recommend giving them a try (and then going back again and again.)!
