We showed up 30 minutes before closing time, and they accommodated us. The food was freshly prepared for us. Large portions and the staff were really friendly. I will definitely eat there again.

Restaurant was cold, needed to ask them to adjust temperature. Ordered Halibut & chips, batter was over done to point of being hard. Tartar sauce was runny and the coffee was not drinkable. I think what will stop me from going again however is the wooden tray my meal was served on. I don’t think they can’t be properly cleaned.

Had dinner, ordering Halibut with fries. At $19.99, the fish portion was small but decent tasting and fries were okay. My wife ordered Halibut sandwich that was decent as well. The staff was very friendly and overall we had a good dinning experience. However, if you are looking for a true English Fish & Fries experience, this place does not cut it; fish batter could have been crispier and fish fillet bigger.

The fish and chips were great here and the service was awesome. We really enjoyed eating here, the staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend this place for fish and chips.

I got the chicken strip and poutine. The poutine was very good, definitely in my top favorites, more cheese curds would be perfered but overall very good

Been going here for a while now and the people working are always friendly and welcoming. The food is good and they have a fast service so it’s perfect for a quick lunch. Highly recommended

We are from. Outta town, stooped in for a bite to eat. Amazing and tasty food. You gotta try the deep fried Mars bar. Left with full bellies, portions were quite impressive. Our server was very bubbly which is hard to find now in the hospitality industry. Kudos to this place!

Enjoyed the meal. Good sized portions. I had haddock, wife and son each had the captains platter. Waitress was friendly. It was obvious that the floor had just been washed. Very clean place. Will definitely repeat.

Based on previous positive reviews, I decided to try this out. I was not disappointed! The staff was friendly, the food was great and the diner decor was very retro but clean. I would recommend this for an inexpensive, casual dining experience.

We had the haddock and chips and the captain's platter. The portions are huge and the fish is incredibly fresh. Also excellent dessert options. We had the fried Mars bar and the German cake. Highly recommended place!

We stopped by here accidentally, but were positively surprised. Really authentic experience, cosy atmospheric design of the place, delicious fish and ships, portions are good, we had two can dine and it was really filling for both of us.

-Customer service was awesome (5/5). Friendly, the food itself was okay. The fish (4/5) and the fries (3/5) had a good cook to them though a bit bland ESPECIALLY the fries, without gravy they had no flavour at all. Still, not bad overall.

OMG. I'm not sure what to say! The halibut and fries is amazing, portion big and perfect! Onion rings, slaw and in house made tartar? Awesome! My son absolutely devours these fries! I order through a delivery app, so my only gripe would be the packaging, as the plastic collects the condensation from the hot and fresh fish and chips and drops it back on the crispy fish making it soft by the time it gets to me and I think the cardboard packaging would be better to absorb the condensation to prevent this, but OMG.that's maybe worth half a star, which I can't do, so 5 it is! Thank you!:) And my kitty LOVES playing with the paper the onion rings are wrapped in, so I get dinner and a show!

Some of the best halibut and chips I've ever enjoyed with friendly staff and excellent service. Will be going back soon and would highly recommend when in Newmarket.

The quality isn’t consistent and we were over charged for our meals. When we questioned we didn’t get a clear answer.

The haddock lunch special are very delicious and value for money. The fish batter is not thick, crispy outside and moist inside. The house cut potato fries are very good. I'll try the halibut and house salad next time. Looking forward to it.

This place has great fish and chips. I had the halibut dinner. It was huge. The batter was crispy and light. Didn't have that old oil taste. And the price is super - great value. The girl taking the order was friendly. I think I might want to try the fried chicken next time. I like that the pictures on the wall are actual pics of the food.

Wow what amazing service m. The staff are unbelievably accommodating staff like this doesn’t exist anymore. We got blessed the fox halibut haddock and salad is unbelievably good!

Great food and very reasonably priced! I had the two pieces of halibut and chips, which costed $16. The portions were more than expected. The batter stayed crispy even soaked in malt vinegar and the halibut was moist and flaky. The chips were hand-cut and fresh. I prefer mine a little more crispy, but still good nonetheless. The chef and staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommend if you’re ever in the Newmarket area!

Always choose this place over all the other many fish and chip restaurants in Newmarket. Food is delicious and always hot with large portions. Very friendly staff and fast services.

I used to go here before, not sure if the owners changed since I no longer recognized any of the staff. Ordered a cheese burger combo, the food was very good, but the wait time was quite long. I had to wait almost 20 minutes for my food, and they seemed quite confused as they had to re-ask my order several times this is why I wonder if they are new owners! But nonetheless were very friendly and polite.

Great food! Went and tried the Halibut and Chips for lunch and it was great! The fish was amazing. The homemade fries was good too. I also loved that their regular order came with two fishes. Would be coming back!

Really great haddock fish and chips! The Poutine was on point and deep fried Mars bars for dessert was the cherry on top! MUST GO SPOT IN NEWMARKET

Food was very average, I wouldn’t complain about it or rave about it. The chips were classic pub style and were very good! I would recommend ordering an extra dressing with the Greek salad. I was disappointed with the fact that they don’t make their own tarter sauce. They are the small size packets. Fish doesn’t come with lemon.other reviews show that it does.unsure.

Not great but not terrible. I've had much better, one of which is Captain George in Barrie. Chips were standard pub fries, got given a literal teaspoon of tartar sauce for my fish. The 'mushy peas' was literally a container of unmushed marrowfat peas with packaged butter on the side. Coleslaw was nice though and the fish was pretty good quality.

Probably wouldn't rush back there again.

The fish was good. I had been to this place many times passing by. Under the current circumstances had not stopped in months. I just ordered as always. (except take out) There were 3 people in the shop. As the cashier called each person up she apologized for the wait & forgot all of their beverages & condiments. I watched the cook as he made ONE ORDER AT A TIME! I had never waited so long, even when the shop was full & they were doing take out! I also noticed most of the prices had been raised. At 1st thought it reasonable with extra Covid procedures. Unfortunately the time, quantity of food & quality of service changed my mind. They need help to get close to the same level of previous owners!

The food tasted wonderful. It was crunchy and the texture was delicious. The service was also wonderful, the staff was very nice and friendly. The environment was very nice too. The place was very clean as well.

Terrible food. Terrible service. The lady working said they don't have ketchup. Took over 20 minutes to get my fish and chips with 5 people working in the kitchen while the lady was yelling at employees. So unprofessional. The shrimp was cold inside and rock hard. And for fish and chips this place was overpriced. Do not go here! The food SUCKED so bad I ended up throwing it out

Food there is really good. Owners and staff are friendly and always thankful when you stop by. Their Greek burger is delicious! I highly recommend

What a great place! I drive from 30 min away for this awesome restaurant. And its not just the food, the owners are fantastic. They'll always make you happy you came and are truly happy to see you. They have one of best customer service standards of any restaurant I've been to and the food is absolutely delicious!
Also, they have more than fish and chips (which are "O so good"!). Take a good look at their menu. There is lots of delicious food for everyone! I highly recommend you give this fantastic restaurant a try if you haven't already. Enjoy!

The only place I go for the best Halibut & Chips in town! They make an awesome Greek salad too if you need to make it a little more healthy! Love this great place and friendly owners.

Great fish, chips, and salads! All of this along with great service and friendly owners I highly recommend this restaurant in the College Manor Msll on Mulock in Newmarket next to Vince's Grocery Store. Prices are very reasonable too!

Ordered from Skip the Dishes, they didn't send half my order, ruined the entire meal for 2 people. Will not order from again.

I remember this place from about a decade ago, when it was ran by hard working Greek family. Visiting it recently, the ownership seemed to change with no negative effect to quality. It's still remains your hearty neighborhood "fins and spuds" place with side acts like burgers, salads and chicken fingers. The fish is what one would come for though. The cuts are generous and sizable, the batter is light and flaky and not too greasy. One of best, if not the best, fish and chips place in Newmarket.

This was my first time there. The service was great and the delivery of food to my table was quick. The owners were very funny and personable. Would recommend this place to others. Can’t wait to return and eat there again. I ordered the single halibut and chips. Was really filling.

They had my order ready by the requested time on Good Friday. They provided plenty of tartar sauce by request. My whole family enjoyed the tasty meal. Thank you The Big Catch!

I order from this place halibut and chips and haddock and chips it was not good at all the fish was very hard and chewy tough to eat will never order from here ever again first time and last time halibut house its 100 times better

Came tonight for dinner with my fiance, and we had the halibut with fries. The owners (I believe) were very welcoming, made sure to ask us how we liked our food and were very friendly. The food was extremely good. Wasn't just all batter, you got a good amount of fish and it was not dry. Unfortunately we don't live in the area but the next time we pass through we will be sure to come back!

Love the food here! Honestly, it’s the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. Must try! The service and staff here are wonderful!
