A Toronto icon! Staff are so sweet, the decor is inspiring and the tuna melt was top notch.

I really love this place. I think the new owners are trying their best and the menu balances affordability and quality.most importantly the place is fun. We always have a fun time, there's 5 dollar floats for the kids, they can sit at the bar, the booths are big and they'll hit their stride.just come in an enjoy.

There is a reason a place like this has been open so long, it was great in my 20s after a night out and still great in my 40s for brunch with the kids. Yummy and hearty food, we enjoyed our visit.

Came here on New Year's Day, around 2: 00. We certainly expected we were in for a wait. But we, along with around 20 or so others, waited at the entrance for over 45 minutes without even being spoken to or acknowledged at all. Staff actively ignored those waiting, despite there clearly being enough empty tables to seat everyone. At one point another customer went up and had to take it upon themselves to seat some others, but after that customer was seated the staff ignored us again. Even all that would've been fine, if at any point a member of staff had at least touched base to give an idea of the kind of wait we were looking at. They wouldn't even make eye contact. I've never seen that happen at any restaurant, very disappointed.

I saw your restaurant on the show Reacher, season 2 episode 1. I really like that show. I would like to eat breakfast at your dinner when I visit Toronto. Your restaurant looks really nice.

Since they brought back the old menu they've put a lot of much-needed care into making the items enjoyable again. The problem with the Lakeview's menu installed a decade ago wasn't that it needed to be changed or over-hauled completely. It was simply that the quality had slipped majorly. Anyone who is confused about where this place is at currently should get drunk in the neighborhood and meet some new friends for a midnight poutine and turbo sammy. Figure it out. The Lakeview has.

Had one of my worst burgers ever Dec. 31,2022. Great service and vibe, but burger seemed frozen and not made in- house.

Garbage good, 3 eggs -1 piece of toast? Sausage was not cooked -home fries were hard -not cooked -3.75 for coffee that’s cold? How do u Giys operate man I’m so confused 1st and last time -beyond bad!

6 eggs and 3 sausages, 1 piece of toast, not 2, just 1 for $50.
Food tasted horrible. Sausages tasted rotten, no salt, no pepper. You people should be ashamed of yourselves.

Great place to visit. My first time and had feature greak omelet for breakfast.soooo good. Especially liked Potatoes.

Really loved our visit here. First day in Canada and it was open on Xmas day.

Our server Marnie was awesome - so friendly and welcoming. The food was quick and tasty. I had the pancakes and my partner had the standard breakfast. The house fries were crispy and salty - really good!

I liked the old diner vibe here. I had pancakes and they were served lukewarm. I had four four pancakes and they were filling. The taste was okay but not worth visiting for these pancakes.

Our local breakfast joint. Classic diner breakfast with great vegan options. If you’re lucky Pat will be your server - a ray of sunshine!

A somewhat underwhelming experience. The exterior looks classic, but the interior decor and food were non-descript. Service was good.

Do not come here if you like home fries. They do not make home fries here. Instead, they just boil the potatoes and call them "home fries. " They're not crispy at all. They used to serve actual home fries at one time, which were really good. Would be nice to have something crispy that isn't deep-fried, of which I have an intolerance to. Disappointing but whatever. My friend and I ended up still being charged for our orders, which I find unprofessional, considering that we didn't get what we were expecting to have. Not coming back. Should've dined and dashed, honestly.

I was enraged when the new owners but it but they really did do the place well. It's been updated a bit but is overall the same place.

Hmmmm a not-a-truffle-sprinkled-and-infused $85 eight-piece fried chicken bucket combo? Is that still being offered as of this writing? That achieved the opposite effect of a "halo car/menu item" - even if "halo" was never the intent and even if its not forcing customers to specifically order that.

BUT kudos to the new owners for keeping this Dundas West institution munching along, with a familiar but refreshed feel and look. Here's to another 91 years! Taste and ambiance, yes. But good value? Customers to decide.

The diner has a very cute vibe and the food is good, portion sizes are pretty big. The apple pie milkshake was pretty good too, although there were some large chunks that got stuck in the paper straw.
