World Gym

Been here for years. Never changes. I swear I don't know what the 2 yearly maintenance fees are for!? Dirty, old. The changeroom is DISGUSTING. All.the. Time. But for 15$ a month I guess they justify it that way. But still get some regular cleaners.

The gym stinks. The changerooms and washrooms are filthy. The Workers are always using the machines or socializing instead of maintaining the gym. Yes, its cheap, but with the amount of people joining the gym on a monthly basis the gym should at least have enough for basic maintenance and better staff. The machines make noise and some machines don't work at all. The only upgrade I've seen in the last 2 years are the Treadmills getting upgraded, probably the least urgent upgrade they could've made considering the place is damn near a biohazard. Guelph deserves better, please do better. If it means making the gym membership a little more expensive, so be it. Horrible Gym, consider elsewhere.

Great value for the price. Huge gym w tons of options. Staff is friendly and helpful. People that workout here are there for a reason it's not a hugely social atmosphere which is what I was looking for

They charged me 45$ everyday. Make sure you have to be everyday there. Otherwise, they would come up with there true face.

Super slimy payment policies. When you want to cancel you have to give 2 months notice meaning that you’ll be paying for another 2 months after you decide to cancel. There’s also a bunch of hidden fees like “maintenance fees” which you still have to pay, EVEN WHEN YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS ON HOLD. They also have extremely incompetent staff and the gym doubled their prices within a year and a half. Do not go to this gym.

I enjoy the atmosphere and friendly employees. Kinda reminds me of like a more underground gym. Got some ruggedness to it. I like it. The weights and equipment are ok-

Cancelled my membership and I see that they are going to be taking 3 more payments from me until its actually cancelled. What a joke.

I have been going to this gym 2-4 times a week off & on for the last few yrs & It's always a good time. Staff are very easy to talk to around the board, well kept & overall a good experience. Looking for a great place to gym? , that answer my friends world gym. Oh get a Maui wowi with chocolate powder Vincent loves making those ;)

The best gym in Guelph!

They have everything you need to work out for a beginner to a professional athlete. The staff is always friendly and accommodating!

Great sized gym, never too busy and easy key card access. Does smell like a locker room at the entrance which can be kinda gross but otherwise perfect.

Wow! I joined this gym in February and I'm so impressed by the facility and what this gym has to offer. They have everything from cardio, to free weights, strengh machines, sauna and of course personal training. The gym is much bigger inside then it appears from outside. They also offer child care and VIP members have access to hydromassage, tanning, and can work outside in the nice summer weather so awesome perks to being a VIP member! You are able to bring a guest ie friend or family member to work out for free when you go for your work out. I think it's only offered during their staffing hours. The staff are super friendly and helpful! The gym is really clean and well maintained, and they also offer sanatize spray and towel cloth to wipe your equipment down. Memebers are nice and genuine. Group fitness classes are awesome and instructors are amazing! For the low great price you pay, it's worth it! Love this gym and happy to be a member here. Keep up the great work here team, always look forward to my next work out!:)

No one responded to any of my customer service concerns about my credit card for payments. Ignored emails, phone calls and in person I was told the "the person I need to talk to isn't here, come back later" at the end they just kept charging me fees upon fees and ignoring my requests. Finally on a day off I went in the sort it out and it cost me $300 more than a year's worth because people can't answer their email or phone or help me out at the front desk unless you're a certain person. This gym is a joke

Everyone at the front desk is so nice and welcoming here, especially the dude with the dreadlocks—they always have a kind way about them. Plus Shaun is always really nice and personable too!

I enjoy the atmosphere. A welcome environment while not feeling casual. The trainers are awesome (Thanks Steve)!

The usual membership nightmare that I though used to be part of the past. Joined weeks before Covid hit, never visited gym at all and have been continually charged. When I tried to cancel due to Covid and the gym closed, they demanded the full years contract fees. Unbelievable. They refused even though the gym was closed and I had never visited having signed up 10 days before Covid hit. NO communication about how they were handling this. You can also not cancel your membership through your personal membership site account. They also do not provide receipts for payments unless you demand them and charge $25 per time for credit cards out of date, but do not inform you of this or contact you to request a new card - in sum, I had to pay fines and a full years membership even though I have never once visited this gym (in part as it was closed) or used my membership. Beware - once you have signed, it doesn't matter what happens, you will be forced to pay all charges or face World Gym placing a notice on your credit score.

Moved to guelph a month ago and signed up to world gym. The gym is perfect. Just enough people where it doesn't feel packed but you feel good with just enough people around especially if you live alone like me. Staff is friendly and the place is clean. Cheap prices too

It’s a beautiful day to get ripped and lift ur pain away at world gym. If u are down or depressed the pump is the cure (Always consult your doctor for medical advice). This phenomenal fitness establishment is iron within so you can be iron without.

Great place to workout, never too busy to the point where you have to wait to use whatever machine or equipment you want. Recommended World Gym to 3 people, all of them plan on signing up soon, can't say anything but good thing about this place.

I’ve been to movati & GoodLife, hated my experience at both- was recommended by MANY people to check our world gym and FELL IN LOVE! The staff are great, super friendly and always so cheerful. The gym has everything you need and more! I love the home feeling I get when working out at world gym! I’ll never go anywhere else!

World gym Guelph is fantastic place.the environment amuzing friendly. The front desk people respectful and professional. For me my second home.

I’ve been getting charged for someone else’s account for the past few months. They said it was sorted but I’ve been charged again. Not professional and communication is poor.

Well, where to start? I have been a member at WorldGym Guelph location for over 4 years (back when they were achieve fitness) - same owner, and staff, and great facility. The staff is always friendly, informative, and going above and beyond to keep the facility well maintained. A special shout out to Sean, Thomas, Nick, and Del - these guys always have a smile on their face and are great store/brand representatives; these guys go above and beyond, especially during the pandemic where they opened up their muscle beach and dragged out equipment from inside the gym to use outside - this was a fantastic idea and great PR stunt/great way to show the customers how much you care about their health and wellness. Did I mention it was also free to use during this time? - Which brings me to my next point, the membership rates are definetly some of the most competitive, with supplemental tanning, massage bed, showers/sauna. The facility is HUGE, very clean, and has a massive variety of equipment (old school machines, newer machines, tones of free weights, squat racks, multipurpose room with boxing bags, weight belts, resistance bands, - basically anything you could need this place has it, and everything in between. Not only that, but the style/aesthetic to this place is one of the reasons I have preferred WorldGym over other gyms i.e goodlife, ymca etc. WorldGym has a back studio that plays rap, metallica/heavy metal, 2000's punk, and really has that grunge/old school bodybuilding mecca era vibe that I just LOVE. They also have a protein shake bar with delicious flavours. If you are looking for a gym for basically anything, I would most definetly recommend WORLDGYM.

World gym went above and beyond everything.
Friendly employees, not crowded, valueformoney, muscle beach.

I highly recommend this gym, there's lots of equipment and different areas to work out in, so I can vary my exercises!

This is good clean gym. With all the great equipment and classes. Also have many extras to give like tannining and water massage beds and with any questions you have they get back to me promptly and polite

Awesome atmosphere and amazing staff!

Everything is always clean, tidy. The wide variety of equipment and space allows for easy workouts.

I usually am in when Thomas is at the desk and he is extremely attentive, helpful and happy to assist with any questions! He brings a friendly and positive environment to the gym!

I have been to many gyms and this one is by the far at the top of the list.

World gym has been one of the better gym I have attended. They have been very accommodating during this pandemic allowing us to workout freely while feeling safe at the same time. The gym is always organized and clean and has all the equipment I need and more!

I don't like the way they don't tell there customers about there is no head office when the first sign up or about when 2 people from the same household sign together with the same credit card. But according to them it is 2 different accounts. They should have a linked system for couples instead of individuals account's. Also they don't bother to call you when your account is in arrears. They choose to just charge you nsf and then say it is your fault not there. To me once this membership is up I will no longer go there. Unprofessional service from the employees only care about the money you owe them. Don't take blame upon themselves.

During covid time, I want to quit they said I have to come there cancel account, it's so frustrating that I have to come there, they are not giving option on phone or email to close account, and they charge for 2 months for more than 200 bucks, and now they sent info to collections. I sign up for biweekly $5 and they don't have answer.

They made it impossible to quit during the covid shutdown, insisting it could be done only in person. They then began charging again before it was physically possible to quit in person.

After finally being able to physically request to quit, they continue charging for MONTHS, and have ignored emails requesting they stop.

Stay far away unless you agree with these types of business practices, there are honest and professional gyms in town.

(1 star for the management.not the kind workers that I met there) They are really taking advantage of people during this time. I moved from Guelph in June and haven't been since and they have been the most selfish unprofessional gym I have ever experienced with helping me cancel my membership. To this day they are still stealing bi weekly payments from me after I talked to several people there about cancelling. I get that gyms are struggling right now, but they are gutless and ruthless.

I want to thank Shaun for reaching out to me after my experience with canceling due to covid. It's been a hard time for everyone and it's difficult to run a business and react to the ever changing situation of a pandemic.

The new credit is a fair compromise and I hope I can return to world gym soon.

I had been with the gym for about 7 years before I quit. They had waited months before they told me I had “outstanding payments” and when I discussed it with them, they sent my account to collections. Don’t give them a chance to lie to you and negatively affect your credit score

They are total crooks! With covid going on they should let people out of their contracts but they dont! They only want your money. They dont care about you or your loved ones. Just your bank account. Total crooks.

First off havent even step foot in this gym yet, paid the $25 to read the reviews after and decide hey not worth it really anymore. I got charged an NSF and they didn't even try and take it out of my bank I checked my statements. No warning, nothing. I can't cancel, why? You have to pay 4 additional payments and MAIL it 60 days ahead of time

This is by far the worst gym I have ever trained at. I would recommend that no one ever sign up for a membership here. The weight room is tiny and the equipment is sub par. The weights are never re-racked and staff makes little to no effort to clean anything up. The gym is also poorly organized. If you want to do a super set for certain exercises, you have to walk from one end of the gym to the other. The locker rooms are big but they are never clean. There is always garbage on the floor and in the sauna. The bathrooms are never clean and there is always toilet paper on the floor.

All in all a great gym. Nice heavy weight back area, spacious, nice option of classes, and great cardio area. The gym itself is a fine establishment.

My biggest problem was upon signing up I was debating between the base or VIP membership (a difference of $10 a month) upon signing up I was told I could swap down to the base membership from vip if I wanted. When the time came when they got rid of one of the vip features which I signed up for, I wanted to drop down to the base and they wouldn’t allow me. I was told one thing and they should’ve allowed me to swap considering the circumstances. “Nothing they could do” apparently. I finished my year and was given the option to change my membership, but with the additional costs it would’ve costs the same to swap rather than just stay with vip. My advice - grab the $10 membership and upgrade if you want. They won’t say no to more money but will say no to losing it.

It’s not a bad gym, they just need to be honest when signing up people and then not entrap them when fed false promises.

I was a member to a gym that closed. When the gym closed they did not tell me that my membership would be given to this gym. World gym began charging my credit card without my authorization and when I found out I called immediately and was told that I will be removed from the billing. A little while later I found out that I was still being charged. I called again and was told that I would be removed AGAIN from the billing and that they would call me to come pick up a refund check. Well, I was just charged AGAIN! Instead of telling me over the phone to send in a cancellation letter they emailed me with a “sorry for the delay in sending this email” and also asked for letter as to why I believe a refund should be issued. I have called TWICE to cancel my membership that I never signed up for! Both times never told to send in a cancelation letter. I have never stepped foot in or seen world gym in my life. They have STOLEN my money. They are crooks and thieves.

This is a good gym, lots of different workout equipment. My only negative is this new 'no gym bag' rule.this rule is ridiculous. Sure people who aren't looking may trip on a bag.but would you rather trip on that or all the contents in my bag that I now have to carry around? Plus, leave on the floor.please change this rule back.

The gym itself is way too warm to work out and while its not the fault of the gym itself but people don't know what the term "WORK IN WITH YOU" means. They would rather hog a machine than share with someone they don't know.
