My experience with R. E. MacDonald Stoves & Stones has been positive since I first made contact. Without exception the staff have each been friendly, helpful and professional. I'm very happy with my new fireplace!

I would highly recommend this company. The fireplace we installed was great and all areas of the process from the friendly and knowledgeable sales team to the highly professional installers was amazing!

We contracted RE MacDonald several months ago to replace both of our 30-year-old fireplaces. We chose this company because of the full service they offer, the fact that the new fireplaces are made in Canada, and the knowledge and helpful advice of their sales associate, Brad. In the living room, we kept the existing tile and mantel, but with Brad's help we redesigned the surround for the new fireplace in the family room. Brad worked with us on our vision for the renovations and visited our home twice to advise and finalize the plans. The installations took place in a timely manner as scheduled, during the Christmas season. The tradespeople involved for demolition, drywall, fireplace installation, stonework, and mantel craft work were all very skilled and professional. We are very pleased with the beauty and efficiency of our new fireplaces.

We are so pleased with the horizon clearview gas fireplace we purchased from RE MacDonald. It throws a lot of heat, takes the chill out of our living room right away and the flame can be easily adjusted by the remote. It looks beautiful! We are in the process of doing a reno and we weren’t sure about the timing of the installation of the fireplace. When our project manager from our reno contacted RE MacDonald, they worked with our manager efficiently and seamlessly to get it installed right away. Eric installed it and did an excellent job of making sure everything was done right. He took time to answer any of my questions. He carefully walked me through the options on the remote which was very helpful. We are thrilled with the product and the service we received!

I have to praise the incredible service of this company. I have an unconventional fridge and stove purchased for a house built in 1912. The Elmira products that I purchased were perfect for my needs but the company that makes these in Ontario did not support their products. The fridge arrived damaged and the stove warming door didn’t close properly. RE MacDonald, at their own expense, found me a replacement fridge and came to my home twice (the owner no less!) to make adjustments to stove, put the special order fridge doors on my replacement and made every effort to make sure I was happy. I would happily buy from RE MacDonald again because they did not fob off the responsibility the manufacturer should have taken. Thank you so much for caring about service!

From our first visit to the R. E. MacDonald showroom to completion of the installation of our fireplace we experienced exceptional service. We're very satisfied with the comfort of the heating system and design of the fireplace. A job well done!

Purchased the Valor Madrona freestanding stove for our basement suite Syl came yesterday to install it. He was outstanding. We had pre—installed a rough-in gas line when we had the suite built. We did not know exactly where it ran and how far. Syl basically guaranteed that he would have the stove installed before he left. He was able to do excellent detective work to finally find the line and complete the installation and even fixed most of the repairs needed to find the gas line. Highly recommend this company and Syl, our installer.

I am very appreciate of the great effort that the staff made to get us spare parts for our Vermont Casting stove. These are rare items and had to me specifically ordered from US. The interactions in emails and also in person once in the store was very friendly. It was a joy to deal with this shop.

Lots of different fireplaces in the showroom and the showroom staff helped explain the different fireplaces and what would fulfill our needs. The installer was great! He did a great job and adapted the fireplace surround to compensate for our uneven brick chimney. He was fastidious on keeping a clean work area so there was no mess at the end for us to deal with.
Looks great and provides great heat for our home!

I reached out to find a replacement gasket for my Napoleon fireplace and even though they don’t carry the fireplaces Liz got back to me right away and referred me to a shop that did.

Efficient service. Good communication. Good pricing. Professional and expedited service. Very nice people all around. Have dealt with them before. Many residents in our complex have used them.

From the moment we set foot in R E MacDonald we were greeted with friendly, courteous, knowledgeable service by the sales person Brad. He showed us around and showed us the different fireplaces and rock surround. He also came out and put together a quote for us. We decided to go for it. We got a new Horizon Valor Fireplace and the trades people who pulled out and installed our new fireplace did a great job. Next came the mantle, all hand made and installed within a couple hours. Beautifully done. Then came the stone and hearth. This took a little longer than anticipated because we went on holiday then they were on holiday, but they were in touch with us before we went and after we got back. The stone trades people did a fine job. We got the silver slide stone. The only thing that we would have liked was more brown in the stone. However it is rustic and goes with our decor. We would highly recommend R E MacDonald for all your fire place needs. They did an excellent job.

Under new ownership! We have used RE MacDonald many times over 25 years and recommended them many times as they were one of the most reasonable, well run companies we knew. Not any more I'm afraid. I have just had three frustrating months getting work done when they said the work could be completed in two weeks. I also called to give them a deposit with my credit card. Mistake. The end of July they sent me an email saying they were taking the balance of $3000 the next day even though the work wasn't completed. Finally the end of August when the work was completed they sent me an email saying they were taking $945 the next day for cost overruns! I called to say that the manager thought the overruns would be $700 and could they reconsider. What is the purpose of a quote in the first place anyways? The accountant called back and said that she talked to the manager and the boss and they said they couldn't change the bill. Is this even legal that they can just charge my credit card on a whimsy for "cost overruns"? What amount are they responsible for for not quoting accurately in the beginning? I found when I called with concerns that it was taking so long (it seemed every time I called someone was on vacation and it added a week or two to the time schedule to complete) I didn't feel like anyone cared. I think all the glowing reviews from years gone are perhaps a thing of the past. I was disappointed in my experience with RE MacDonald and won't recommend or use them again.

Unfortunately my experience was completely different this morning. I went in to the Langley location to ask a simple question as to whether my grills were cast iron- bbq not bought there- but I had the grills with me. The woman asked me to repeat myself 5 times in a voice as if she was talking to a child. I simply asked for a service fellow to talk to. I felt completely patronized and left the store with my grills. I got to my car and cried. In this changing world you would think that companies would help people needing it. She didn't know that I had 5 broken ribs and it took everything I had to even get there with my grills to show her. The situation was quite important as I believe another company sold me a cleaning product that stripped my grills - it is only a one year old bbq and I was merely looking for a second opinion. She never even asked to see them. What an utterly disappointing and humiliating experience. My only thought can be that they are only there to help people that spend money on their high end products. When are retailers going to start helping people during COVID - we are all out there buying products to help them recover. Shame on this organization.

We had to make some last minute changes to our order due to the problems with our reno plan.we were well looked after throughout the whole process. We would highly recommend this business.

Visited store, was immediately greeted by Brad, showed us products that would work for us. Called before coming, showed up on time. Quote was sent a week later and purchase was made. I would recommend this store even though their prices are a little more expensive, it is worth the service.

Our experience buying our fireplace at RE MacDonald's was exceptional. Matthew is very knowledgeable in providing options. There are lots of units on display so you can see them working. We are limited to an electric fireplace in our condo and Matthew understood the situation and had lots of helpful suggestions. He also outlined considerations for installation that we would not have known about such as wiring and design options. We left confident with our choice. Our fireplace is now installed it has exceed all our expectations!

MacDonald Stoves and Stones installed a natural gas fireplace insert as well as a barbecue in my previous home over 20 years ago; they also provided maintenance service. When I needed a professional to install a replacement gas fireplace in my current home, I called on them again and once again they delivered the best service. Recently the gas was turned off in my condo for servicing and when it was restored I had difficulty lighting the electronic pilot light. I called them and John Dyck was very patient in going through the process, he provided great customer service over the telephone and I was able to relight; the fireplace is operating again. This company employs gas fireplace specialists; I highly recommend them for any gas appliance installation and service.

Needed a simple part for an existing gas fireplace repair. Quoted $99.00 by a competitor, and $12.00 over the phone by R. E. MacDonald. This will be the only place I go from now on.

So happy with the fireplace that Dave and Gino did out at Cultus lake, it looks amazing and I can’t wait to see it in person. I was stuck up at Sasquatch mtn with the mudslide and they had no issue with going in without me there, send me pics along the way. Just a great experience from beginning to end. Very nice showroom with knowledgeable folks and no pressure to purchase. The installation went very smoothly and the installer (Sil?) answered all my questions concerning operation of the unit. Also, I had three quotes and they were the most competitive. Just a “win win” all the way round!

Had a beautiful valour Windsor arch fireplace installed and couldn’t be happier. Our installer Silvain was more than awesome providing us with great instruction on how and why while he worked. At the end of the day he wrapped up his blankets and you would never know he was there. If you get the chance, ask for him.

We recently had our old gas fireplace replaced by RE MacDonald. The service was excellent right from going to the show room to the installation.

Hi, I called R E MacDonald in the fall to have a fireplace installed in my home. I am on the Sumas prairie & last winter with the out flow winds I lost power for 3 days. The unit that I put in was a Valor Horizon and my home is toasty warm now and I am waiting for the winter to arrive. Bring it on MN Jerry

Top notch and efficient service by knowledgeable people! We have 2 fireplaces installed by RE MacDonald. 4 years apart. Referral was from our next door neighbor. Our house is 30+ years of age and has had 2 woodburning fireplaces all these years. One had a brick facade, the other was natural stone. Jarret, despite some uncertainty as to size and ease of instillation, arrived and installed these most amazing efficient fireplaces after John measured and assessed what might do the job. So far in 2019, we have not had to use our furnace. The 2 natural gas fireplaces in our living room and family room heat the house completely. Their service post installation was extraordinary as well. Highly recommend this company! We explored others, but they found the task too difficult due to the size and irregular smoothness of the facade.

We absolutely love our new Regency fireplace! It is beautiful and so much quieter than our previous fireplace or the furnace!

The installer was professional and dog friendly:) Took pictures of an issue he discovered with our chimney flashing so we could get it repaired before it became a bigger problem.

We have used RE MacDonald Stoves to replace existing units in three homes now including the current one we bought a year ago. We looked online and at other stores in the Langley area to compare prices but once again, none compared to RE MacDonald Stoves. We have always had excellent, professional service from the sales department and the installers. Very knowledgeable, and friendly. When we had made up our mind and were preparing to settle the details, the salesman even suggested that if we wanted the floormodel, it would be a further discount off the amount we already thought was a good deal. We just purchased a new gas fireplace insert from RE MacDonald and found them to be an excellent supplier. John gave us great advice on which model would our open hearth and space and the installer was awesome. They ran new gas lines, installed a chimney liner and cap and even worked around an awkward keystone in our fireplace to ensure a perfect installation! We highly recommend RE MacDonald. They are professionals from start to finish!
